OC WEEK DAYS 1 AND 2
Best and Worst Days
Forgot about this. Woops!
So uhh...I'm gonna use Taurn Cymbeline Lyndwerth for this!
For those of you who don't know who this guy is, here's a link to his bio.
But if you don't wanna read that, here's a summary:
Taurn is a major character from a story I'm working on known as Dalgari: Thrones of Legend, a story about descendants of divine warriors who are also heirs to countries taking charge and leading the world to prosperity.
He's a headstrong, proud, caring young man who has trained endlessly in the ways of war and wishes to be a strong pillar of strength for his allies and his people, and because of his status as a descendant and prince of an empire, he is a powerful asset.
With that being said, let's get into it.
Also no I can't draw.
Tumblr media
Best Day
Taurn has a lot of these. But it he had to pick, it's probably be the day he met his best friend and confidant, Prince Leon Alrone. During his time at an officers academy, he trained and studied the ways of war. The academy would often hold mock battles to test the might of the students. And in every mock battle, Taurn and Leon were put against each other.
They fought like crazy and formed a bit of a rivalry. In all honesty, they probably hated each other at first.
But then they were put on the same team for once. After putting aside their differences, they fought together. And they kicked serious ass.
After that, they became the best of friends (and briefly lovers before deciding to break up), and they were always at each other's side, training together. He was the first person who he felt like he could trust to have his back if, for whatever reason, he couldn't measure up.
Worst Day
One day, when he was 16, Taurn was entered into a tournament. His father, Emperor Atlas, saw this as his chance to prove how strong his heir was, and Taurn saw this as his chance to be praised by his family and his people.
In the beginning, he was doing well despite being young compared to the competitors. But as the battles grew harder, and the pressure built, his heart seemed to be as pained as his body and soul were starting to be.
Near the end, he suddenly stopped, feeling a searing pain in his heart, and his breathing got heavy. He collapsed and was unable to continue the tournament.
He failed.
Emporer Atlas, was furious. Atlas had spent years training him and his sister for greatness, and had taken a special interest in Taurn do to hia major connection to his ancestors. And ij his first outing, his first chance to show off the might of the royal family he lost in such a pathetic manner. He could not have that.
Taurn remembered little of what Atlas actually said. But he remembered him shouting at him when they got home. He remembered his father shaking him. He remembered tears, he remembered being struck to the ground. He remembers feeling like a disgrace and promising to the world that he would never let that happen again.
It turned out that Taurn had developed a heart condition. When he was under too much physical stress, his heart and body would start to ache, and he would have a reaction similar to what happened at the tournament. It took him time, but he eventually was able to continue his training, with the added caveat that he now couldn't train as hard or for as long as he did before. Doctor's orders.
The whole thing made him hate feeling vulnerable. He hated being treated like a burden by his father, or being doted on by his mother and sister. He hated how they worried for him. That was his job.
He swore never to let an incident like that happen ever again. Never again would he ever be weak. He'd be strong. He had to be. Or else.
So... yeah, that's how he got his complex of needing to be the pillar or rock in most relationships. Also, that's why he's so reckless and headstrong.
And that's all for today! Yay!!!

~Tokyo revengers members Coloring Their S/O Tattoos.~
Mikey | Draken | Baji | Chifuyu
{Heya! I didn't put much into it but I hope you like it! And thank you though!}
----------------------------------------------------------
M i k e y
You had no hesitation letting him color your tattoos. “Have fun, babe.” You pinched your cheek and relaxed under the big tree you were both sitting under. Today you had thrown all your plans away just to be with mikey all day.
The wings on your forearm was now stained in hues of purple and green with accents of yellow. “So, besides today, how have you been lately?” Your gaze swayed from him to the inside of your eyelids as you were drifting to sleep slowly. “Okay, I suppose. School is annoying.” He laughed and your heart twinged with love.
You chuckled and looked down at your arm. "Mikey you done?" All you could hear was just a "hm".
“Let’s just rest for a little bit I'm tired.” You pushed the markers into the grass and your arm wrapped itself around his waist as you pulled him down and into your side. Mikey couldn’t fight it as his ear was filled with the sound of your mellowing heartbeat. Your fingers danced in his hair till you knew he was fast asleep.
You stayed awake just looking at his angelic features as the sight of your multi-colored arm shifted your focus. It was so meaningless to him but you loved it as you knew that it came from his heart and mind.
It was him– perfect.
~~~
B a j i
“Y/n! ” Baji called as he stepped into the large house. “I believe she's in the gazebo or her office, Mr.” One of the worked associates greeted baji at the front door. He grabbed the bags from baji's arms as he started walking. He was off towards the back of the house to find his fiancee.
“Y/n-!” he called as he rounded the corner of the house and into the back yard. The gazebo was empty. He stopped and stared for a moment. He was sure that this is where she'd be.
“Up here, my love.” A voice said as he looked up to see Y/n at her office balcony. “Hey there” he waved as your eyes squinted in a smile. “How was your day out?” you asked as you brought your teacup up to your lips. “It was okay~I have something to show you!” he called and held up a small shopping bag in his large hand. “I’ll be right up!” he raced back into the house and up the stairs to where you already stood waiting for him in the doorway to your office.
“What’s so amazing that you found today?” your eyebrow raised and he opened the bag quickly. “But first-” You interrupted you as you grabbed his face gently and gave him a passionate kiss. “What’s this for?” he asked as he continued to stare at your face lovingly. “Just happy to see you is all.” You smiled.
“Now, show mee.” he motioned to one of his hands that was stuck in the bag he held. He was brought back to reality and pulled the plastic package out of the bag.
“…Markers?” you asked and your tone of voice made him laugh. “Not just any markers. They’re tattoo markers. They’re safe for the skin.” He corrected you and you rolled your eyes. “You’re still on this?” You asked with an amused expression. “Of course I am! This was the deal and my love for you is way too much so.” he said shoving them into your hands so you could inspect the box.
You read the back and you had to admit he was right.
“You said I could color your tattoos IF I found tattoo markers. Safe for the skin and everything!” You knew he did it and that you had to hold up your part of the deal. “Okay fine.” You sighed as you handed the package back. “Yay! Beautiful Thank you!” He jumped and laid a gentle kiss on your nose.
“We can do it later before dinner.” You agreed.
—-
“Finally! You take forever.” He sighed as you moved your sunglasses up your nose. The grass tickled your bare legs as baji sat next to you. “I couldn’t help it. Chifuyu that jackass didn’t want to hang up the phone.” he stood on his knees and moved behind you. His hands gently rubbed your shoulders as your head fell in an exasperated manner.
“I hate to burst your bubble, Y/n. But, I called you out here for the deal. Not a massage.” You whined as you flopped down on the grass, your t-shirt lifting on your back.
“If this stains, I will make sure to throw out all color in your life. Your life will be a dull kaleidoscope-” “Yeah, yeah, yeah. Whatever you say, you big baby.” He laughed and opened his pouch full of the tattoo markers.
He lifted the back of your shirt more till the full picture was revealed. A dragon with demons following was the full picture- a dark reality…that he were going to make colorful. What can he do he loves your tattoos so much.
He sat on his lower back and got to work filling in the different parts of the dragon. Every once in awhile you would spasm and try to make him mess-up. Yet, with a slight tug on your hair, you would become limp and obedient again.
“I’m almost done.” Was the phrase that almost made you weep with joy. “Finally.” You let it slip and you felt a tug on your hair again. “Ow.” You rubbed your head. You could feel him draw and move the felt-tipped weapons on his back.
“Finished.” He cheered and grabbed his phone to take a picture. He showed it to you and ombre scaled decorated the dragon with the demon’s faces were colored red and blue. It looked nice. You saw a couple of smiley faces hidden in there and felt like everything looked complete.
“Okay, my turn now!” You yelled and grabbed his arm. You struggled and pulled him to the ground and grabbed the black marker that was in his hand. “Y/n, no.” he said strictly. “This wasn’t apart of the deal.” He expressed. “Excuse me? Sorry, I don’t speak Japanese.” Your english rambled off quickly from your tongue. He decided to just deal with it as you took your time drawing a mustache on his face along with random doodles you could think of.
You finally stopped your antics and took a picture with your phone to look at afterward. “You look so cute, look!” You pulled up the picture and shoved it in his face. “I look gross man!” He ridiculed but you wrapped him up in your arms quickly,
“My gross man.”
D r a k e n
You were on your period and hell you were pissed, your mood swings were just making the situation more shitty.
Draken on the other hand was just trying to help you but every now and then you'd snap at him for absolute no reason. "Oi, can you stop whining for once?"
He said with pretty much no emotion at all. And that's all it took for you to break down in tears.
Draken was taken aback, "babe hey, hey, I'm sorry I didn't mean it like that please stop crying- I". “Wanna play tic-tac-toe?” He asked and you looked around, surprised he was asking. “Um-” He didn’t wait for an answer and grabbed your legs– pulling you closer to where he sat.
Draken took the permanent markers out which was on the floor for god knows why. You wiped the rest of your tears and grabbed the orange marker out of his hand. He lifted the sleeve of his long shirt and created the grid in black ink. “Wanna go first?” He asked and you took the opportunity to land an 'X’ in the grid.
“Fine. You win this tournament. But, I know I’ll win next time.” You said laying back and closing his eyes.
The bottom of your shirt lifted and he could see the familiar black ink on your side. “Stop staring at me like that, pervert. I have rights.” You pulled your shirt down and he let a laugh rip through your chest.
“Chill. I was just looking at your tattoo.” He said and you shrugged. “What about 'em?” You asked as his eyes closed once more. “Nothing. Just looking,” he sighed, “I wanted to be a tattoo artist before all of this.” One eye peeked open and you looked suspiciously at his figure. “Are you any good?"
Draken just chuckled at your question.
~~
“Give me one!” You lifted the side of your shirt and waited patiently.
He shrugged, finding nothing else better to do. You already had black ink staining your skin so he decided to add on. It was another simple dragon but it fit your character and personality perfectly.
Time seemed to slow as you tried to take a sneak peek of the masterpiece he were currently working on. You planned to take a picture later and get it done, yet, it would have to be in secret.
All of a sudden, the bedroom door popped open. “Welcome back to Earth.” Mikey greeted. He capped the marker and helped you up.
"Why are you here" You asked while getting up, "Rude Y/n Chan, I'm still gonna answer your question though POLITELY, Ken-chin called us here so that we can go on a short trip or something to make your day better. Right ken-chin". Mikey looked over at draken, "Right whatever, can we go now?" He looked over at you for your response and all you did was kissed his neck because of your damn height and tagged along behind Mikey.
“Woah. You got a new tattoo?” Hina said as she lifted up your shirt and you shooed her hands away.
“Eventually.”
C h i f u y u
"I GONNA THROW UP ON YOU WITH ALL MY MIGHT IF YOU TRY TO GET NEAR MY TATTOOS MISTER " You exclaimed loudly as he started following you like a lost puppy around the kitchen, where you were busy making your 'grilled cheese'.
"Babe C'mom little color won't hurt and it's not like I'm trying to bite your tattoos off-". " See, there you said it, you're exactly gonna bite my tattoos off" Chifuyu sighed having enough of your nothings, he suddenly back hugged you, you can feel his large hands wrapped around your hip.
"What do you think you're doing?". You asked as you turned around to see his face,
"If you're not gonna let me color your tattoos then I prefer to stick with you like a koala, and you sure as hell know I ain't letting go." Chifuyu said and you eventually gave up because you knew nothing will change even if you don't agree with fuyu.
So now here you are sitting on chifuyu's lap as he continued to color the wallflower on your shoulder. "You done?". "Hold on a minute babe it's almost over, -All done" Chifuyu replied.
You sat up and started making your way to the mirror to see what he actually did " Y/N!!! Wait" chifuyu voice said and you turned around to see your boyfriend running over to you.
"Wha-", before you could finish your sentence he lifted you up and threw you over his shoulder. "The actual fuck chifuyu, what did you do! PUT ME DOWN YOU ASS"
"It's just better if you don't see it ya know, and I'll make sure you don't see it until I leave" Chifuyu chuckled quietly as he continued making his way to your bedroom.
A Day Off
Karasuno x F!Reader
(Not including the side characters sorry.)
Warnings: suggestive, fluff, language
A/N: This is part 4, and I still have so much in mind I- Well anyway, this is another long one.
Tumblr media
It was just another regular, boring day in school. Doing projects and so much work. It was tiring to say the least.
It’s a Friday. The team is supposed to have a Saturday practice.
You’re in your last class, 8 minutes before the dismissal bell sounds. Everyone is chatting and on their phones.
You get a notification. “I wonder who it is” you think to yourself.
You decide to check it.
-1 Message from Captain ✨-
“Oh, it’s Daichi”
Captain ✨: Y/N, can you head to the gym early? You don’t have to, but I asked everyone to since I have an announcement.
Y/N: I’ll try. My teacher likes me so I’m sure she’ll let me go if I tell her why.
Captain ✨: Good! See you in a few :)
Y/N: See ya! 😊
-Captain ✨ and Y/N are offline-
As you thought, your teacher was more than happy to let you go a little early.
You head to the gym once again, curious as to what Daichi has to say. On your way, you spot Asahi, who was buying water from a vending machine.
Walking up next to him, you say, “Asahi! Do you wanna walk together?”
“AH- oh. It’s just you Y/N..sorry.” He laughs, rubbing the back of his neck nervously. “But yeah, I’d love to.”
“Great! Let’s go see what Daichi wanted us for.”
Side by side you proceeded to walk to the gym, chatting along the way.
Opening the door, you notice everyone’s there. “Maybe it’s a practice match with another team later?”
The both of you head to the group.
“Okay! Now that everyone’s here I have an exciting announcement to tell you.” Daichi declared.
“What is it Captain?” Asahi questions.
“Coach told us we have a break day tomorrow! So, Suga and I decided to go to the beach in Tokyo.”
“YAY!!!” Hinata, Noya, and Tanaka exclaimed.
“Tch.” Tsukishima hissed.
“Sounds fun, but I can’t go.” Kiyoko smiled.
“Awww ok. But yay! Beach day!” You grinned.
After a while of discussing the plans for tomorrow, Daichi tells everyone to pack up clothing and everything else they needed.
~~TimeSkip~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
7:00 am
It’s the day of the trip. After a long night of deciding what to bring, you hop off your bed and put everything in a [insert favorite color] bag.
Then, you get ready— getting dressed, brushing your teeth.
You had put on an nice outfit. (Pick one of these ^ ^)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Walking over to the meeting point (the front of Karasuno), you put on some music in the headphones you were wearing, humming to the song.
As you approach, you hear two voices shouting.
“I GOT HERE FIRST!!”
“NO I DID BOKE!”
You identify the voices as Hinata and Kageyama.
“SHUT IT, BOTH OF YOU!” You hear Suga yell.
They see you approaching and immediately calm down. Then the automatically blush at how cute your outfit looks on you.
“THE PRINCESS HAS APPEARED!” Noya declares.
“Hey!” You sang.
They all say hello to you. Right after that, the bus arrives.
“Y/N, Can I sit next to you?” Suga asks.
“Sure! As long as I can sit next to the window!”
“Mhm! Let’s go.”
“HEY NO FAIRRR!” Hinata complains.
The rest of the boys glare at Sugawara. But he just looks back and smirks.
“Lucky bastard...” Tsukishima mutters.
Both you and Suga sit in the back of the bus together.
On the way, you and Suga watch memes on his phone (with headphones) and laugh at them.
~~~~~~~TimeSkip of a few hours (sorry-)~~~~~~~~~~
10 am
“Everyone get up, we’re here.” Daichi exclaims.
One by one, you all get off the bus.
“Where do we put our things?” You question.
“Oh, the coaches booked us rooms in a hotel. The problem is that it’s three per room with one having four, so we have to decide who goes where.” Suga points out.
“Oooh. Well why don’t we write our names down on paper and mix them?”
“Good idea! I have a notepad in my bag so we can use that.” Suga offers.
He takes it out and writes everyone’s names on small pieces of paper. Then, he puts it in a small empty pocket on the side of his bag.
“Y/N, why don’t you draw three to see who are the first roommates?” He asks.
“Ok.”
You pull out the pieces in sets of three. Daichi writes down each room and who is in it.
Here’s the groups:
Tumblr media
(Yes I wrote them myself but I accidentally forgot Suga lol)
“YEA! I GET TANAKABRO!” Noya approved.
“Why do I have to get Saltyshima?!” Hinata murmurs.
“Oh god, this is gonna be chaotic..” Kageyama grumbles.
“Yay! I get Captain, Asahi, and Suga!” You squeal.
Daichi, Asahi, and Suga mentally congratulate themselves for getting this opportunity.
For a second, you thought it was funny that you get a room with the third years.
“Okay, now that it’s been settled, let’s go check in and set our things in our rooms.” Daichi ordered.
You all head to the hotel and check yourselves in.
“After we get settled, get changed into your swimming outfits and we will meet in the front of the building.” Suga advises.
Walking with the third years, you go into your room. After opening the door, you notice something.
“Uhh there’s only three beds.” You say, also noting they are queen sized.
“W-what?-“ Asahi stiffens.
“Coach didn’t tell us that-“ Suga defended himself.
“I guess two of us could lay next to each other.” You shrugged.
“I suppose.” Daichi sighs.
“Daichi I’ll lay with you since you’re the closest to me right now!”
“O-okay then, if you’re alright with it.”
“Dang..” Suga says under his breath.
Once talking it out, you decided to lay with Daichi. But since it’s a queen bed, you wouldn’t be that close so even though the other two were bothered by it, it wasn’t that bad.
—After putting your things down—
“Y/N, do you mind if Suga, Asahi and I go first? It’s so we can make sure everything is in order after we change.”
“Sure! I’ll remind everyone to bring sunscreen and stuff.”
One after the other, they get changed in swim trunks and a shirt and walk out to check on the others to see if they’re doing alright.
Then, you go and change into your swimming things.
Choose one below:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When you were done changing, you put on some clothes over it. (You would take it off when getting in the water.)
You get a text from the group chat saying they were all going to the front.
Smiling to yourself, you walk down to where they said to go.
~~~~TimeSkip to when you get to the beach~~~~~~~
12 pm.
“Ok! Go put down your stuff and you’re free to go!” Daichi affirmed.
“Yes!” Everyone replies.
Everyone goes off on their own, some immediately running for the water.
“Hey Suga, I’m gonna go to the bathroom to put on sunscreen since I forgot. I’ll be right back.” You mentioned.
“Be careful.” He tells you before going to the water.
You skip your way to the closest bathroom near the beach.
Grabbing your sunscreen, you put it on while making sure it’s in every right place. Then, you take off the clothes over your swim suit and put it in the small bag you were carrying.
“Heyy.. where’s Y/N?” Hinata asked Suga, upset that he doesn’t see you.
“She went to the restroom to put on sunscreen. She’ll be back in a second.”
“Dumbass forgot to put it on.” Tsukishima commented, with Yamaguchi snickering in the background.
“Language.” Daichi warns.
After finishing what you were doing, you happily walk back.
“Sorry I had to go for a sec guys!” You apologize.
“It’s alright Y/N-“ Asahi says, suddenly tensing up and becoming flushed.
“What’s wrong Asahi?” Noya questions loudly, then he looks where he was looking. “Oh.”
The rest look away from what they were doing, and look at Noya and Asahi before looking at you.
Just then, their faces become just as red. (Noya, Tanaka and Kageyama even have nosebleeds I-)
“Y-you look nice Y/N!” Yamaguchi spoke up.
Everyone nods.
“Thank you!” You grin while getting in the water as well, a faint blush on you since you’re around several shirtless men.
The day goes really well. Everyone, even Tsukishima, had fun.
3:30 pm.
Now that everyone has gotten tired, you all decided to go back to the hotel.
“I wanna go to a restaurant! My treat of course.” You gushed.
“You don’t have to-“ Suga tries to say, before you but him off.
“I insist! Come onnnn”
“Ok, sure. Let’s do it at around 5:45 pm.”
“YESSS,” Hinata and Noya exclaim.
When you get back, you watch TikToks on your phone and vibe until the time you go to eat.
After eating at the restaurant, they all thank you as they head back to their rooms.
Today was a great day.
Through Sickness and Health [USWNT x Reader]
Tumblr media
requested by anon: Could you write something with baby reader getting sick/hurt and the rest of the team taking care of them, preferably with Christen & Tobin being the “team moms” to them.
A/N: yay for t & c scoring today!!!
You stare at the plate of breakfast in front of you, massaging your temples, as if you could somehow rub the pounding headache away.
“Woah, (Y/N), you don’t look too good.” Emily observes, pausing mid bite of her eggs.
“Wow, thanks, Em.” You roll your eyes sarcastically.
“No, she’s right, (Y/N).” Mal rubs your back, examining you closely. “Are you feeling alright?”
“Yeah, guys, I’m fine. It’s just a little headache, probably because I din’t sleep that well.” You mumble, leaning your hooded head onto Mal’s shoulder.
“Alright well, drink up, we gotta go to the field.” Mal pushes your glass of water in front of you.
You gulp down the water, slamming the cup on the table, as you get up and follow your teammates onto the bus.
—————
It was almost the end of practice, and you felt like you were either going to throw up or collapse, or both. Your head was pounding, your throat was dry, and your stomach was doing somersaults.
As soon as Vlatko blew the whistle, you rest your hands on your knees, trying to catch your breath, exorbitant amounts of sweat dripping off of you.
“Kiddo, you okay?” Tobin comes up from behind you, resting her hand on your back.
You huff out a sigh and stand up right. “Yeah, I’m good.” You nod, sighing.
“Alright,” The older forward hums, squinting her eyes skeptically, “let’s get you on the bus.”
She wraps her arm around your shoulders, guiding you off the field. As you’re walking, your legs wobble like jelly, and you can feel them start to weaken.
“Tobes… I don’t feel so good.” You softly groan, before you completely faint, collapsing in Tobin’s arms.
“(Y/N)!” Tobin exclaims, gently laying you down on the grass. “(Y/N)? You with me?”
“Tobin!” Christen calls, frantically running up to the two of you, followed by the rest of the USWNT. “What happened?”
“I don’t know! She just fainted.”
Christen kneels down next to you and feels your forehead with the back of her hand. “She’s burning up.”
“She wasn’t looking too good this morning at breakfast.” Mal interjects, frowning worriedly.
“Yeah, she’d said she had a little headache.” Emily adds.
“Well why didn’t anybody say anything?!” Christen snaps at the younger defender, who just shrinks. An angry Christen Press was definitely a sight to fear.
When you first joined the national team a couple of years ago, at the age of 18, Christen and Tobin immediately took you under their wings, crowning themselves your official team moms. The two helped you both on and off the pitch, whether it be watching game film with you or discussing your decision to play professional. They were also particularly protective of you, especially Christen, who was also your Royals teammate.
“Chris, they didn’t know.” Tobin calms down the upset woman, reminding her the task at hand.
“Right.” Christen sighs, nodding her head.
Vlatko approaches the group, followed by the medical staff. “Guys, give (Y/N) some space.”
The women back up, making some room for the trainers and the stretcher, while Tobin and Christen stay close to you.
As they load you onto the stretcher, Tobin furrows her brows. “Where are you taking her?”
“We’re just gonna take her into the med room back in the locker room to check up on her. I don’t think it’s anything too too serious, but we want her to wake up before we make any diagnosis and take her back to the hotel.” One of the trainers explains.
“Can we come with you?” Christen asks, nervously biting her lip.
“If you’d like.” He nods, and the two forwards follow the medical staff.
Back in the med room, the trainers put you onto the bed and get a cool towel to put on your head. While you were not awake yet, they had a feeling it was a case of the stomach flu, so they got a cup of water and thermometer ready for you.
About five minutes later, you slowly opened your eyes and grumbled. “Whaaa…what happened?” You groggily rubbed your eyes, as you try to sit up.
“Woah, sweetie, how about you lie back down.” Christen gently pushes you back down to the med table. “You fainted, (Y/N). They say it’s the stomach flu.”
“Ugh… just great.” You mumbled under your breath, groaning in frustration and discomfort.
The head trainer, who’d noticed you were awake, reentered the room. “Hey, (Y/N), how are you feeling?”
“Like I got hit by a bus.” You mutter.
He picks up the thermometer and hands you a cup of water, which you sip, soothing your dry throat.
“I’m just gonna quickly take your temperature.” He motions for you to open your mouth.
A couple of moments pass before a beep sounds. “102.4” The trainer reads, before turning to Christen and Tobin. “Make sure she gets plenty of rest and drinks lots of water. I recommend taking her temperature every two hours or so, and when her fever breaks, then come talk to me.”
“You know I’m right here? I can take care of myself.” You protest.
Tom and Christen share a look, exchanging a silent conversation.
“Sounds good, Tom. Thank you.” The curly-haired forward smiles, and the trainer nods, making his exit.
Once the three of you are alone, Tobin starts, “(Y/N),” she brushes your hair out of your face, “Em and Mal said that you weren’t feeling too well earlier this morning. Why didn’t you say anything?”
“I didn’t think it was that bad, and I didn’t wanna make a big deal out of it or worry you guys.” You shrug, avoiding eye contact with both women. “I’m sorry.”
“You have nothing to be sorry for, honey.” Christen reassures. “We were just extremely worried when you fainted, especially since we didn’t know what was wrong.”
“Yeah, we care about you, kid.” Tobin coos.
“I love you, guys.” You mumble tiredly.
“We love you too, (Y/N/N).” Christen softly smile, reaching for your hand. “Now, c’mon, let’s get you back to the hotel, so you can rest.”
“Can one of you carry me?” You plead, giving them your best puppy eyes.
Tobin rolls her eyes at your childish behavior. “Sure, kiddo, hop on.” She squats down, so you can climb onto her back. The three of you make your way to one of the team vans, the bus having already left, and you head back to the hotel.
—————
As you’d fallen asleep on the ride over, Tobin carries you up to your room, takes your shoes off, and tucks you into bed.
After about an hour and a half of sleeping, you wake up, feeling a little better, but still quite uncomfortable.
“Hey, how you feeling?” Christen puts her book down, noticing you’re up.
“Eh, a little better.”
“Here, let me take your temperature.” She reaches for the thermometer and approaches you. “100.6. Not as bad, but not good. You’re still burning up.” She feels your forehead. “How about I draw you a warm bath? It might help cool you down, and you still stink from training.”
You stick out your tongue at her. “Chrissss, I don’t wanna move.” You whine.
“C’mon, you big baby. I’ll get it started.” She heads into the bathroom and starts the water, ignoring your grumbling and protests.
You throw the blanket off your body and begrudgingly enter the bathroom, where Christen’s sitting on the edge of the bath full of warm water and bubbles.
“Here, I’ll turn around, so you can get in.” The older woman stands up and turns to face the door.
You strip off your clothes and toss them to the side before sinking into the bath.
“You can turn around now.” You announce to Christen, as you close your eyes, relaxing in the warm water.
“Feel good?” She asks, returning to sit on the edge of the bath.
“Mhmm.” You hum, before opening your eyes. “Where’s Tobin?”
“She went to get you some snacks, medicine, and some more water.” Christen answers, as she reaches for the shampoo. “Wet your hair for me?”
You lean back, letting your hair fall in the water while keeping your face drying. You sit back up, and Christen begins to wash your hair. As she massages your scalp, you feel your eyes droop. You hear the door open and close, and Tobin peeks her head in the door.
“Hey, (Y/N/N), you’re up? You good?”
“Mhmm.” You blissfully hum.
“I see the bath is helping.” Tobin smirks, winking at Christen. “Well, I got you some snacks and meds.” She holds up a bag.
Your eyes fly open at the mention of food. “Oooo, what kind?!” You sit up so fast that water and bubbles splash onto the brunette forward.
Christen glares at you, and you shrink back into the water. “Wash.” She points.
You dunk your entire head in the water, squeezing your eyes shut, and you scrub the soap out of your hair. Emerging from the water, you wipe the water from your face and see Tobin has joined Christen, sitting on the edge of the tub.
“So what kinda snacks did you get?” You eagerly ask.
Tobin chuckles and leans down, reaching into the bag. “I got some cheddar popcorn, Oreos, pita chips, and some banana and peanut butter.”
You grin at the thought of all your favorite snacks. But before you could reach out for one, Christen cuts in.
“Wait, (Y/N/N), you sure you up to eating something? Is your stomach feeling better? I don’t want you to throw up again.” She gives you a worried glance. You wince, as you remember the throw up incidences in the car as well as when you arrived to the hotel.
“My stomach is feeling a little better.” You assure the older woman, who’s still looking at you wearily. “How about I start with a banana?” You propose, trying to rest Christen’s qualms.
“Okay.” She nods, giving in, and Tobin breaks off a banana from the bunch, peeling it and handing it to you.
“Thanks, Tobes.” You grab it and take a bite.
After you finish half the banana, your stomach not wanting any more, and after your bath, you find yourself back in bed, sandwiched between the two forwards.
The three of you start to make some light conversation, when there’s a knock on the door.
Tobin slides off the bed and opens the door, and the rest of your teammates flood into your hotel room, climbing either on your bed or the bed across from you.
Mal, who took Tobin’s spot next to you, much to her displeasure, cuddled into your side. “Are you feeling any better?”
“Mhm.” You nod, snuggling into her body.
“Good. I was really worried.” She mumbles into your shoulder.
Your heart swells, and you grin. “Don’t worry. I’m good.”
“(Y/N), open up.” Christen interrupts, holding out the thermometer. “98.7” She reads, smiling.
“Thank goodness!” Kelley calls from the table, as she puts an Oreo in her mouth and plops at the foot of your bed. “We thought you died.” She exaggerates.
“Shut up, Kel.” You roll your eyes. “And stop eating my snacks.” You kick up your foot, trying to nudge the defender.
“No, but in all seriousness, (Y/N), we’re all really glad you’re okay.” Megan insists.
“Yeah, when you collapsed, we kinda all freaked out.” Julie adds, several of the other women nodding along.
“I think the scariest part was that we didn’t know what was wrong.” Alex says, and Christen hums in agreement.
“We want you to know that you can come to us with anything because we’re always here for you.” She softly grins down at you.
“Thanks you guys. It really does mean a lot. I’ve never really had people like you guys in my life.” You confess, smiling at your team.
“Well, you better get use to it because we’re not going anywhere!” Ashlyn exclaims, as she jumps on the bed, encouraging the other women to dog pile on you as well.
You look around you and can’t help but feel warmth spread throughout your body, and this time not from your fever but from love. You were extremely grateful that you had this team of women, especially Tobin and Christen, in your life, who’d be there for you through sickness and health.
“Jesus fuck” you quickly shuffled inside your front door escaping the cold air outside. You had hands cupped over your mouth, blowing warm air into them.
You’re father tossed your bag by the staircase as you turned the corner to the kitchen.
“Ayyy she’s back!” Negan said with a mouthful of chip and guac that he preparing.
“Hey” you waved at him before your mom swooped in to give you a tight hug.
You embraced her, “Hi mom! Missed you.”
“You have no idea!” She replied before releasing you and holding both your cold hands.
“Hey, Frankie this the one?” You heard a fimilar voice coming from the steps.
It was Diana, holding the velvet green table cloth your family used every year around this time.
She gave your hands a squeeze, before attending to Diana.
“Yes, that’s the one” your mom answered, reaching to take it from her.
“Diana this is Eddie, you’ve always just missed her”
“Diana is Negan’s girlfriend” your mom added.
“Very Nice to meet you honey” she said smiling and giving you a soft handshake “I’ve heard a lot about you.”
I’m sure you have
“Nice to meet you too” your cheeks flushed red. Luckily that could easily be explained by the weather.
You glanced over at Negan who was sipping on his mug to cover his smirk.
“What time is this game on?” Your dad indirectly asked Negan flipping through the channels.
“Uh, I think 7” he responded
“Oh, we got a good two hours then.”
“Alright, I’m gonna go get cleaned up. I’ll be back” you announced.
“Need help with your bag?” Your mom asked not wanting you to do a thing while you were here home.
“Nah, I got it”
“I’ll help you Eddie” Diana offered
“No no no it’s okay” you tried to deflect her help
Your words had to effect as he picked up your duffle and gestured with her arm for you to go up the steps first.
You walked up the steps, heart pumping extra hard, in sync with your steps.
On the last step the tip of your shoe caught the edge of the step and you tripped. Your quick successive steps prevented you from falling.
“Whoa, watch it!” Diana laughed trailing behind you, duffle over her shoulder.
“This is my room here” you walked in first
Diana set your bag down on your bed looking around the room, at your drawings pinned to your wall.
You began taking off your winter coat.
“I got you” Diana snuck up behind you, helping slip your arms through the sleeves
Feeling her close behind sent tingles from your neck to your toes.
“Thanks” you responded while she reached in you closet to put it on a hanger.
You shuffled through your closet looking for a clean shirt. You landed on a thick black tee.
You stared at it momentarily and turned to Diana.
“I’m gonna change...” you hinted that you needed some privacy
She reached for the hanger in your hand, “So, change...”
You reluctantly gave up the article of clothing.
It felt like an eternity reaching for the hem of your shirt before pulling it through your head and shoulders. You immediately had goosebumps, partly due to the change in temperature, partly because you were in front of Diana for the first time in months and already topless.
In the time you undressed your upper half Diana was standing behind you again. You became aware of her presence when she pulled your hips back into hers, lightly grinding.
She gently bit your upper trap as she nibbled towards your neck. You turned your face towards her. Once your lips met her tongue slipped into your mouth.
It was far too short. You sighed through your nostrils as Diana removed herself from the kiss, leaving you hot and bothered.
“Get dressed” she said handing you your un-hung shirt. She softly patted your hip before stepping out.
Fuck. Fuck Diana. Fuck Negan. Fuck Christmas.
You hated how they could cleverly peel back your layers until you were nothing but nerves, reacting to any stimulus, seeking pleasure. In less than 5min with them you were already pent up, release on your mind.
I’ll be quick - no there’s not enough time, you began debating with yourself, just do it. You’re wasting time. They’ll know - no they won’t.
Fuck it.
You locked the door and took care of yourself.
You headed back down right in time, as the table was now set up for dinner.
Negan and Diana were seated together across from your parents, your father in front of Negan and your mother across Diana. You sat the head of the table. Between your mom and Diana.
Dinner felt normal despite the secret affair.
You updated everyone on your semester and future plans. Negan cracked jokes with your dad, you added zingers to them. Diana asked questions about you, her attempt to get to know you was executed perfectly. She knew how to work a conversation.
Diana occasionally brushed her leg onto yours. Turning you on, you to shifted in your seat every time. Amusing her.
“You alright honey” your mom asked, noticing your movements.
“Uh, yeah, my back just a little locked up from the flight”
“Maybe Diana can help you out. She’s a PT y’know” your mom offered Diane’s services.
“No no wouldn’t want to mooch of her. I’ll be alright” you responded
“It’s no problem Eddie. I can loosen you up just say the word” she said before taking a bite of her food.
“I’ll be fine” you kindly reassured them.
Conversations on conversation led to Negan and Diana making an announcement.
“With Eddie graduating this year, you fine folks celebrating 25 years of marriage, we want to add to the good” Negan started.
“You’re pregnant?” Your mom jumped to conclusions excited for her friends.
“Your are outside your mind” Diana laughed chugging the remainder of her wine.
“No not that” Negan led to the announcement, “We’re getting hitched”
“Yay!” Your mom hopped of her seat give Diana and Negan a hug, almost putting both of them into a choke hold.
“Congrats man” Your dad shook Negan’s hand across the table and raised his glass to Diana before taking a sip
“Congratulations guys” you smiled, genuinely happy for them
“Thanks Eddie” the couple said together
“So what do you say Klause, plan my Bacholeor party?”
“Fuck yes” your dad grinned happy for his buddy
“Wait does this mean I’m your best man too?”
“I wouldn’t do that do you haha! My brother is, but he can’t plan for shit”
Diane and your mom having a conversation of their own.
“Frankie, it would mean so much if you were one of my bridesmaids?”
“Of course” she accepted.
“You guys decided on a date?” Your mom asked
“We’re thinking in late May of next year”
__________
After dinner you all were scattered in the living room watching the game.
“You said you’re studying graphic design right Eddie?” Diana asked during halftime
“That is correct”
“Do you mind if consult with you regarding invitations?”
“Yeah, no problem. Do you have some ideas in mind?” you asked
“We do. Let me get your number before I forget”
She handed you her phone.
__________
Later that night you were about to crawl into bed when your phone buzzed on your night stand.
It was an unsaved number. Diana’s surely.
It was 2 short clips.
The first clip was Negan’s legs splayed on his bed, Diana between them sucking his dick.
Good thing your volume was on the lower end because the next clip was the backside of Diana with Negan plunging in and out of her from behind. This clip was a little longer with Negan slowing down to show is entire member exit her and shoved himself back inside.
That was the last of it. Until you saw three little dots.
The next message was an image of Negan’s cum dripping out Diana’s entrance.
You could feel wetness beginning to pool between your legs.
Three little dots
- You could’ve been here if you didn’t take care of yourself earlier
- Goodnight sweat heart
How the fuck did they know?
__________
The next morning, once your folks left for work you barged into Negan’s back door.
“What the fuck!” he yelled from the kitchen, “You scared the shit outta me kid!”
“YOU what the fuck!” You were frustrated, emotionally and sexually.
“Hahaha, didn’t enjoy the show last night?” He asked nonchalantly as he continued prepping steak in a type of sauce.
“You can’t do that! What if I opened it in front of my parents?”
“What are you really mad at? That we sent it? Or that you weren’t invited?”
Shit. I don’t know. You thought to yourself.
“That’s what I thought” Negan responded to your silence.
“Well, I’m here now” your impulse taking over. You walked to him and palmed him through his black jeans.
“Woah, Eddie...” he said softly moving his hips away from your touch, hands still in the bowl, drenched.
“I’m— I’m cooki—“ he stopped, removed his hands from the bowl and rested his wrists against the counter as you pecked your lips over the rough fabric of his pants.
“Fuck. You really wanna do this right now?”
Your eyes staring up at him, you nodded.
You stood up and pulled him by his waistband toward the living room, Negan tried to stop at the sink first to wash his hands but you yanked him away.
“Ed-“
You plopped him in the couch and got between his knees.
“Diana won’t be happy if I dirty this couch” he gestured at his sauce covered hands “she picked it out”
“Then don’t” you challenged his self-control
“And you better not touch me with those dirty hands either”
You undid his belt buckle followed by his button and zipper. Negan helped you by lifting his hips of the couch while you slid his pants to his ankles. His hands slightly in the air, careful not to stain anything.
His semi-hard member rested against his thigh. You started at his inner knee, licking and kissing your way up. You could feel his quads tense up. Once you were a peck away from his shaft your mouth went to his other inner thigh, pressing your soft lips against his hairy skin.
“Oh Eddie, you don’t want continue what you’re doing” he warned you.
“Or what? You won’t fuck me again? You won’t have your wife eat me out again?” you retaliated, in hopes to get him to realize he can’t resist you either.
You took the head of dick on your mouth. Swirling you tongue around it.
Negan’s head leaned back, finally having enough stimulation, “agh! fuck!”
You eventually started sucking him mid-way, stopping at his tip every so often. He would frequently lift his hips trying to get more of himself in your mouth.
“You want me to go deeper?” You popped off him and pumped him slowly.
Negan looked at you with some rage but also desperation.
“Yes” he said reluctantly.
You slowly put his member entirely in your mouth. Having good control on your gag reflex. Negan taking notice.
“Not gagging I see. Did your little whore ass get some practice this semester? How many guys did you ask to suck off? How many got to come in that pretty little mouth?”
You continued to take him all the way. Then you deep throated him and held yourself there.
“Oh fuck, mhmm” Negan’s orgasm building.
You slipped off him all the way. Viscous saliva linking his dick to your lips.
You brought yourself to the brink again. Holding that position.
“I’m close” Negan breathed out quietly “and you’re gonna swallow all of it.”
You removed yourself.
“Actually” you said wiping your mouth “I think you can take it from here. Or I can text your wife to finish for me.”
Negan took a frustrated breath trough his nose.
Still on your knees, hips resting on your ankles, you stared at him briefly, giving him a in a what-now-? look
He swiftly took his shirt off, staining it with his hands, but he used it as a barrier between his sauce-covered hands and your hair.
He sloppily guided your head and mouth to his member. You didn’t expect this to take this turn, but it turned you on.
You felt the urge to gag as his dick was entirely in your mouth. You tried to control it.
“Breathe” His words helped you control it a little longer.
A few gags slipped out as he continued to hold you in place. He began talking dirty to you.
“Not so experienced now are we”
“Choke on it you little slut”
“You never know your limit do you? Or do love crossing lines?”
His comments built your own arousal.
Negan was on the brink of orgasm.
“I’m gonna cum, baby” He held your head in place while his hips began thrusting upwards.
His depth became more shallow the faster he thrusted, and you appreciated the decrease in restraint he had on your head.
On his last thrust he pushed deeply and firmly brought your head down. You felt his pubic hair brush your nose.
“ughhh!” he gritted as he came.
“Swallow.” He ordered as his orgasm subsided
He slowly released the pressure he had on your head, letting you come off him. Simultaneously gulping the warm liquid.
“You swallowed it all?”
“Yes”
“Say ‘I swallowed all your cum Negan’” he firmly cupped your chin.
“I swallowed all your come Negan” you spoke through your restricted jaw.
“That’s a good girl” he released his grip.
“Now go upstairs and shower. Diana will be home any minute now, and she’ll want you clean” he said before pulling his pants up and walking to the kitchen to wash his hands.
⭒❃.✮:▹  TWO   ◃:✮.❃⭒
Dear Aimee,
This week has been especially shitty.
We lost Connor to what looked like a really big ant. It helps me to draw them. I try to capture their essence, scribble down some notes on how to kill them.
Turns out Robin's katanas can pretty much solve anything. Although, I'm pretty sure it's just because Robin's the one wielding them.
Sometimes I think drawing them is the only way I know how to cope with these things. That and having Y/N. She helps me a lot more than I give her credit for.
I owe her my life.
We've lost a lot of people over the years. You'd think you'd get numb to it after a certain point.
You don't.
- - -
Y/N walked through the hallway with a small skip in her step. Despite everything that had happened in the past week, she still managed to feel happy just at the thought of being with her best friend. With her activities for the morning already done, she was determined to spend some time with Joel who she knew was still a bit down on himself about what had happened during the breach.
She had set up the target in the room where Gertie and Mav1s were, knowing that the boy had been begging her to teach him how to shoot for a while now. She had about a half an hour before she had to be back with the hunting squad, so she was hurrying to get to Joel so that they could have more time working with the crossbow.
She was almost to his room when she heard his voice echoing down the hall. Furrowing her eyebrows, she picked up her speed and went pass his bedroom until she was at the radio room. She poked her head inside, her eyes landing on the boy who sat at the desk with the radio turned on.
"This is 7045. Come in, 3022. I repeat, come in, 3022. Over," Joel said, his eyes flickering over the map in front of him where he had 'X's marked everywhere except for the circle around their bunker and 3022.
"This is 3022. What is it now, Ray?" a voice replied over the radio making Joel sit up a bit more.
"Hey, Janice. No, it's actually. . .It's, uh, Joel," he told her making Y/N smile softly as she watched the boy.
There was a long moment of silence before the woman chuckled, "Oh. Joel."
"Yeah," he replied, smiling slightly.
"All right. Hold on one second," Janice said. "Aimee, it's Ray!"
Y/N’s smile faltered at that, muttering softly to herself, "Aimee, of course."
"Joel," the boy corrected with a small sigh into the radio. "Thanks, Janice."
"Joel! Hey!" a new voice said, instantly making the boy perk up as a big grin took over his features.
"Hey, Aimee! Hi!" Joel exclaimed. "How are you?"
"Hi. Yeah. I, uh. . .I'm good," Aimee told him.
"It's so good to hear your voice," Joel admitted, relaxing a bit at finally being able to hear her voice once again.
Y/N watched him for a moment longer before smiling sadly and turning to walk away. She knew how much getting to talk to Aimee meant to him, so she wasn't about to interrupt him with something he honestly probably didn't care to do. Besides, she wanted to give him some privacy to talk to the girl he was in love with. After all, that's what she would've wanted if it were her having to talk to Joel over the radio.
The girl walked aimlessly down the hallway, lost in her own thoughts about Joel before she was snapped back to attention when a voice softly called out, "Y/N, are you alright?"
She came to a stop, her head lifting up to notice Kala standing in front of the memorial they had for all the lost colony members. The girl's eyes were on her, concern evident despite the sadness in her eyes.
Y/N gave her a forced smile and said, "I'm fine, Kala."
Kala just stared at her before giving her a sad smile and whispering, "Joel's talking with Aimee again, isn't he?"
Y/N looked away at that, swallowing thickly before asking, "How. . .how are you?"
Kala went quiet and glanced down at the hat in her hands that had belonged to Connor. When she continued to not respond, Y/N walked across the room and pulled the girl in for a hug. Kala melted into her embrace, her body shaking a bit as she softly cried.
"I know," Y/N whispered, holding onto the girl tightly in hopes she would realize she was no alone. "Connor. . ." She trailed off as she felt her own sadness bubbling into her throat. After all, Connor and her had been close. He was a part of the hunting team with her. He had been like brother to her and she had lost him. "He was a great person and he loved you so much. He died protecting you."
Kala sniffled and nodded her head. "I know," she said, her voice cracking a bit.
The sound of footsteps approaching pulled the two apart and they turned to see Joel walking in. He plopped down on a seat beside one of the tables, a numb and upset look on his face that made Y/N’s heart break.
"I'm going to go put Connor's hat up," Kala muttered, her hand gently squeezing Y/N’s arm in order to pull the girl's attention back to her. "Thank you."
Y/N nodded and Kala gave her a small smile before walking back over to the memorial while Y/N walked over to Joel. She sat down in the seat beside him, the boy instantly looking her way while she offered him a small smile.
"Hey," she whispered. "How are you?" Joel looked away at that and Y/N sighed, "Joel, you need to put the breach thing behind you, okay? No one was expecting it, so you can’t blame yourself for being scared."
"But you're not scared," Joel retorted, his head still hung low.
"Are you kidding me? I'm always scared," Y/N told him, her words making him look up at her. "It's my fear that keeps me going.It's my fear that pushes me through whatever challenges may come my way."
Y/N didn't go into the fact that her fear was never truly about herself. Her fear had always and would always be for Joel's life. For if she died, then that meant Joel could die simply because she wouldn't be there to protect her. And that's what scared her more than anything in the world.
The thought of Joel dying.
So in her mind, she survived for him. She survived so that Joel would survive.
The boy was looking at her, still not saying anything. Sighing, the girl reached out and placed a hand on top of his own. She gave him a reassuring smile before saying, "Even Batman was afraid every once in a while, Joel. That's what makes him human."
Joel smiled a little at that, squeezing her hand and rubbing his thumb over the top of her skin while Y/N smiled back.
She let go of his hand and leaned back in her chair, propping her feet up on the table as she looked to the boy. "How's Aimee?" she asked.
Joel looked at her in surprise, not sure how she could've known he was talking to the girl, before saying, "I think she's fine. We. . .we didn't get to talk much before the radio cut off."
Y/N frowned, "I'm sorry, Joel."
Joel smiled weakly and looked down at the table before whispering, "I just miss her."
Y/N felt her heart ache at the sight of him and she quickly dropped her feet to the ground before wrapping an arm around his shoulders and leaning her head against him. "I know," she whispered softly, ignoring the way her heart slightly broke knowing that even after seven years of not seeing her, Joel still loved Aimee.
Y/N had gone through seven years of watching him pine after a girl who barely even seemed to understand what she had when he was her boyfriend. Yet she still stuck by his side even though she found herself falling in love with him even more with each second that passed.
Joel let out a soft sigh and leaned his head against her own, relishing in the comfort of his best friend while his heart ached for the girl he loved.
Still oblivious to the fact that the girl holding onto him loved him more than Aimee ever could.
- - -
"I wanna know how it got in," Karen demanded, frowning from where she sat down at the table. The whole colony was there, the discussion about how the monster had gotten in finally being brought up after giving everyone enough time to mourn.
Y/N was watching Joel, her eyes flickering over the boy who sat on the opposite end of the table with his gaze on the table and a numb look upon his face. Frowning, she pulled her gaze away and looked to Karen. "You sure about that?" Y/N asked. "Sometimes it's better not knowing."
Karen was hesitant, knowing that what the girl said was true. After all, the hunting team didn't always tell them what went on unless everyone agreed on it. It was better for some people to have to worry about certain things over others. When she gave a small nod in response, Y/N looked to Tim and gestured for him to go ahead.
With Connor gone, Y/N was one of the designated leaders at the moment. She had a bit of a reputation in the colony anyways, having worked her way to top hunter on their squad within a matter of weeks. So Tim didn't hesitate to comply to her orders, looking around at the others as he explained, "It appears to have ripped through one of our perimeter defenses."
"What, it ripped through steel?" Anna Lucia asked, having not known that bit of information.
"Y/N, Anderson, and I resealed the breach point and the vent. Nothing's getting in that way again," Tim assured them.
"And if they do, we'll be ready. I set up triggers around possible breach points to help alert us when something's attempting to get in. Next time one tries to strike, the team and I will be out there ready to take it down," Y/N said.
"But why did it happen?" Karen asked.
"It was a freak occurrence," Ray told her. "There's no reason to think it'll happen again."
"Ray's right. We only took precautions just to be safe," Y/N spoke up. "We should try to stay calm. There's no use worrying—"
"How far away is Aimee's colony?" Joel spoke up, his voice making them all go silent while the boy looked over at them.
"What?" Tim asked.
"Aimee's colony," Joel repeated, ignoring the fact that everyone's eyes were now on him including Y/N who looked like she didn't understand what was happening. "How far away is it?"
"About eighty five miles," Ray answered.
"How long does that take to get there?" Joel questioned. Y/N sat up a bit, her feet that she had propped up on the table falling to the ground as she stared at her best friend.
"Joel, you're not actually thinking of going?" Tim said confused.
"Tim, just. . .humor me," Joel pleaded. "How long?"
"Seven days," Y/N spoke up, causing the boy to look her way. She was watching him, her eyes flickering over his face while she had a completely blank look upon her face. It was enough to make Joel still, for he had never seen her act that way, but he was too focused on her words to speak up about it. "Minimum."
"An armed and trained hunting party would be lucky to last fifty miles on the surface," Anna Lucia said, the others all looking at each other and mumbling in agreement while Joel looked off in thought and Y/N continued to study him with narrowed eyes. "But you, Joel. . ."
"All right," Tim spoke up, noticing the way Y/N had obviously gotten distracted by what her best friend was saying. "Now I need volunteers to help reinforce some of the outer perimeter."
Everyone began to speak up, agreeing to help out, but Joel spoke out again, his voice making everyone freeze as he said, "I'm gonna go."
Everyone was dead silent as they looked to him, Y/N’s face growing a bit pale while Joel ignored her gaze. "It's an impossible journey, Joel," Tim told him.
Joel shook his head and stood up. "No, I'm serious," he said. "I love you guys, but Aimee is one of the only people in this world who ever truly made me happy, and she's only eighty five miles away. And I'm gonna go see her." He let out a breath he had been holding before smiling slightly. "That felt awesome." He then turned and walked out of the room, leaving everyone staring after him.
All eyes turned to Y/N who was staring at the place Joel had just been with tears in her eyes. All she could hear were Joel's words playing over and over in her head.
Aimee is one of the only people in this world who ever truly made me happy.
Aimee is one of the only people in this world who ever truly made me happy.
It took her a moment, but Y/N was up and out of her seat without a second thought. She ran out of the room, leaving the others to sigh and exchange a look for they knew Joel's words had hit her harder than he meant to let them.
By the time she reached Joel's room, her tears were long gone and her mind was already made up. She appeared in the doorway, her eyes instantly locking on Joel who was shoving his few belongings into his backpack. He glanced up at her, his eyes hesitating on her form for a moment before he looked back down.
"I have to go, Robin. I can't stay here anymore and just wait for something to happen. I'm done waiting," he told her, shoving his journal and pencils into his backpack as he did so.
"I know," Y/N replied. "You have to do this. You should go." Joel looked up to her at that, his face displaying a look of shock for a small second. She smiled softly at him before walking towards him and saying, "But I'm coming too."
"You're. . .you're what?" Joel asked in surprise, his eyes flickering over her face as she came to stop in front of him.
"Joel, you're the only person who makes me happy," she began, her words making his heart skip a beat which he quickly pushed aside as nothing. "I can't let you just leave without me."
Joel was reminded of what he said earlier and his face softened as he reached out and cupped her face in his hands and looked into her eyes. "You know I didn't mean that you don't make me happy, right?" he eyes searching her own to make sure she understood what he was saying. "Cause you do, Robin. You're the one that keeps me going every day."
He let go of her and turned to his backpack which he zipped up, missing the way Y/N’s face heated up for a second due to his words and display of affection. She quickly pushed her feelings aside, knowing Joel always had been an affectionate person. It was just how their friendship worked.
"But I have to go see Aimee," Joel continued, letting his gaze fall back upon his best friend. "And I can't just make you come with."
"You're not making me do anything," Y/N assured him. "I'm coming. We stick together through everything, remember?" She took a step forward before holding her hand out to the boy. "Batman and Robin, right?"
Joel hesitated as he looked to her, a smile slowly making its way onto his face while he felt his heart swell with an emotion that he pushed aside as nothing else but relief in getting to keep her by his side.
"Batman and Robin," he agreed, clasping his hand in her own while they exchanged small smiles.
Y/N gave him a short nod before taking a step back which caused Joel to frown because it suddenly felt like he was missing a warmth he hadn't known had been there when she was right in front of him.
"I'm going to go grab my things," Y/N said. "I'll meet you by the exit." And with that, she ran out of the room, leaving Joel to stare after her. He was a bit confused as to what he had just felt, but didn't think much of it as he turned back to his bag and smiled.
"I'm coming, Aimee," he whispered, thoughts of reuniting with the love of his life running through his head.
Dear Aimee,
I am done hiding. I am done waiting for things to get better.
It's time to take matters into my own hands. Time to let someone else make the minestrone.
I'm taking a radio, even though it doesn't have power. But I'm gonna take it anyway.
Robin's coming with me. She's just the best, you know?
I didn't want to admit it, but the thought of leaving her behind had scared me. Knowing she'll be there with me every step of the way, it provides me a sort of comfort that I can't even begin to describe.
I can do anything if I have her with me. Walking eighty five miles through a monster infested world will be a piece of cake.
When Y/N was done packing, she went off to find the rest of the colony, knowing she would have to explain to them that she was going with Joel even if they might not want her to. Muttering rehearsed lines to herself, Y/N walked into the main room where the colony was all huddled around a map and writing things down.
"Guys," Y/N began, letting out a shaky breath. "I'm—"
However, she didn't get a chance to finish before she was being tackled in a hug by Kala. Y/N fell into a stunned silence, hesitantly hugging the girl back in confusion before Kala pulled away to look at her.
"You're going with him," Kala stated. "We know." Y/N blinked in surprise before looking around at the others who all just nodded softly despite the sad smiles on their faces. The girl looked back to Kala who just smiled softly. "It's okay, Y/N. We knew you would."
"I didn't want to do this to you guys," Y/N admitted. "I know we just lost Connor and losing another person on the hunting team isn't ideal, but I have to go with him. He's my best friend."
They all nodded in understanding before Tim reached out to clap a hand on her shoulder. "You don't need to explain to us, Y/N," he told her. "We get it. Just know that we'll be waiting for you two when you get back."
Y/N smiled softly at that, falling into Tim's embrace while everyone smiled at the exchange. "So," Y/N began as she pulled away from the man, "what are you guys doing?"
"Attempting to make a map for the two of you. Well. . .mostly for Joel in case he somehow gets lost," Anna Lucia said making Y/N chuckle softly before she walked over to the table.
She smiled softly at the sight of all the notes on the front before noticing that there seemed to be something on the back. She flipped the paper over, her smile growing even more at the notes the crew had all written on the back for the boy.
"We were going to make one for you too," Kala spoke up. "But I think Joel needs more of a reminder of how much we love him than you do. I have a feeling you already know that."
Y/N smiled and looked up at the people who had become her family. "I know," she whispered making them all smile before she looked down at the paper snd grabbed ahold of one of the pens. She scribbled down a small note on the back to go along with the others before Karen folded the map up.
It was when she was almost finished folding it that they heard Ray call out, "He's not joking."
They all walked out of the room at that, Y/N catching sight of Joel making his way over towards them with his backpack on and two crossbows and her katanas in hand. His eyes locked with hers and he smiled before holding out her weapons. "I think you may have forgotten something," he mused making the girl roll her eyes.
"Thanks, Joel," she said before grabbing the katanas and strapping them into her back and under her backpack. She then took the crossbow and the two turned to head towards the ladder that led to up above when Tim stepped in their way.
"We're not letting you two leave. You're needed here," Tim told them, even though Y/N knew that he understood he wasn't going to be able to stop them.
"Tim, Y/N may be, but I'm not. Come on. I don't do anything," Joel said.
"Joel, that's not true. You fix the radio. You make the minestrone," Tim stopped after that and winced slightly at his own words. "Okay. Doesn't sound as important when I say it out loud."
"I appreciate you trying," Joel assured him. "Really, I do. I just don't feel like I belong anywhere. I don't really wanna die all alone at the end of the world, so. . ."
Tim stared at the boy for a moment, his eyes flickering over to Y/N who gently shook her head at him to let him know he shouldn't say anything about her feelings for the boy. Tim sighed and turned away, allowing the two to walk by.
Joel moved forward, but paused before looking back at the others. "Look, I know you guys all just think of me as, like, some little, pathetic, adorable hedgehog. But I can take care of myself. I'm actually probably a lot stronger than you might think," he told them.
Y/N smiled softly at the boy's words, knowing how badly he wanted to prove to them all that he could do this. She placed a hand on his arm and Joel looked her way, smiling as she squeezed his arm before looking to the others. "We'll take care of each other," she assured them. "We've survived seven years. We can survive seven days."
The colony didn't say anything until finally Karen stepped forward and held the map out to Joel. "We made you a map," Karen told him.
"Thanks, Karen," Joel whispered before the girl reached up to hug him. Joel hugged her back and Karen pulled away with a sad smile before going over to Y/N and hugging her as well.
"Just. . .take care," Karen whispered before she pulled away and backed up to join the others. Y/N stared out at the people who had become her family, her eyes tearing up a bit as she knew that there was a possibility she would never see them again.
She felt a hand latch onto her own and Y/N looked to her left to see Joel giving her a reassuring smile as his fingers intertwined with her own. Y/N gave him a shaky smile in return while Joel rubbed his thumb across the skin on top of her hand.
"Everything will try to kill you," Ray told them.
"Oh," Joel muttered, making a small face which made Y/N chuckle softly.
"Be observant. Use the advantages that you have. You're fast and small and Y/N is one of our best hunters, so, Joel, don't fight. Just run and hide. Y/N, you should do that too, but if you need to, use those katanas and crossbow like your life depends on it cause it does," Ray said.
"Don't fight," Joel repeated, making another face before looking to Y/N. "So Robin fights, but Batman doesn't?" he whispered to her. She just smiled shyly at him.
Ray reached out and pulled the two into a hug, Joel and Y/N hugging him back while their intertwined hands still stayed by their side.
"You're both assholes if you get eaten," Ray told them.
Y/N smiled at that before saying, "And you all are douchebags if you don't answer our call when we get there."
The group all chuckled while Joel went to hook his crossbow to his backpack. Everyone fell silent as they watched him, their smiled falling as he struggled to simply latch the crossbow to his back. Y/N sighed and brought her free hand up to facepalm herself while Joel just awkwardly laughed and tried to latch the crossbow one more time.
This time it latched into place and he smiled before saying, "Okay."
"Nice," Ava muttered.
Joel ignored her comment and squeezed Y/N’s hand before turning to climb up the ladder. "I love you guys. Tell Aimee I'll see her in seven days," he said before climbing up the ladder.
"We believe in you," Karen called after him.
"Love you, buddy," Tim said.
Y/N walked over to the ladder before hesitating at the bottom. She glanced back at the colony, her eyes flickering over each of them. Karen and Kala were softly crying as they hugged each other, the others all looking at her sadly before Tim just gave her a small nod.
"Take care of him," Tim said before hesitating. "And yourself."
"I will," Y/N whispered, smiling at the group one last time. "I love you guys."
"Love you too," they all chorused as she began to climb up the ladder like Joel had. The latch was already open by the time she reached the top and she was blinded by the sunlight until Joel moved himself above the hole and looked down at her.
"You sure about this?" he asked, his eyes flickering over her face for any signs of hesitation.
Y/N smiled softly, "I'm sure."
Joel smiled at that before holding his hand out, the girl looking to it for a moment as she realized just what it is they were doing. Was she really about to help the boy she loved reunite with the girl he was in love with? It was crazy. She knew that. Yet seeing that smile on Joel's face and knowing that this was what he wanted, what he needed, to be happy was enough for her to know this was the right thing to do.
Then, without another second thinking about it, Y/N took ahold of the boy's hand and he pulled her into the world above.
For the fluffy holiday fic prompts: Jonsa and #3, secret Santa! 🎁🎅
omg YAY!! thanks so much for the prompt love💕💕
so this kind of got away from me here LMAO but i hope you like it!!
send me a prompt!
“Come on, Jon! Just pull a name out!”
Jon Snow sighed at his friend. The Starks always played Secret Santa every Christmas. And unlike Theon, Jon normally doesn’t stay with them during the holidays, he goes back home to his mother’s. So he’s never played with them before.
Unfortunately, with his starting grad school this year, Jon couldn’t afford the flight home to his mother’s, and Lyanna couldn’t afford the flight to Winterfell. And since he already spends most other holidays and breaks with them, this year, he finally accepted the Starks’ invitation to spend Christmas there.
“Yeah, Jon. You have to, I’ve already put your name in,” Robb’s younger sister, Arya, said smugly, “If you don’t pull a name, it sucks for whoever’s left in the hat.”
Sansa, Robb’s other sister, wiggled the Santa hat with the last slip of paper in front of Jon’s face. She smiled at him. “Give in, Jon. You know you want to.”
“Whoever has my name could always draw again?” he suggested hopefully.
“Nonsense,” Catelyn said, “Jon, you’ve practically been family since Robb brought you home for freshman spring break. Don’t feel awkward about this, it’s all in good fun.”
Other than his own mother, Catelyn Stark was probably the best and kindest mother in the world. Jon couldn’t say no to her.
--
Jon wished he said no to Catelyn. Of all the names he could have picked. Of all the names! He had to pull Sansa’s. And it wasn’t like there was anything wrong with Sansa. Quite the opposite in fact. She was great. Perfect, actually. And that was the problem. Sansa Stark was perfect and had everything. What could Jon “poor undergrad” Snow possibly get her that she’ll like?
--
Sansa feels stupid. She couldn’t for the life of her figure out what to get Jon for Christmas. Of course with her shit luck, she’d pull the name of the one person who she’s most nervous about pleasing. But it’s fine. It’s fine. She can just ask Theon to switch with her. He’ll do it, no problem. Besides, he owes her.
--
“Bro, just get her some jewelry or something. Sansa likes pretty things.”
Jon rubbed his temples. Robb is absolutely no help. But Jon should’ve expected that. “I can’t just get her jewelry, Robb. I don’t think she even wears any. This has to be a good gift!”
“Why?” asked Robb, with a mouthful of butter toffee pretzels.
Before Jon could even think of an answer, a snort came from the hallway. When Jon and Robb looked, they saw a smirking Arya leaning on the doorframe.
“You’re really asking why?” Arya rolled her eyes and then laughed at her brother. “Wow you’re stupid.” She walked away and left an offended Robb and a stressed Jon.
He groaned. “What do you even get someone who already has everything she could possibly want?”
--
Sansa crossed her arms as she glared at Theon. He hadn’t stopped laughing. “Are you done yet?”
“Sorry, babe. Dunno how to help you here,” he chuckled.
“You could switch with me!”
“Nah, I like who I have.”
“You owe me!”
Theon stopped laughing. “Wh- for what?”
“For saving your ass when-”
“Nuh-uh. Nope!” Theon wagged his finger at her. “You don’t get to keep using that one. I’m sorry we dated the same asshole, but talking the cop out of arresting me for keying that car was forever ago!”
Sansa huffed. “Fine. But can you at least help me? I have no idea what Jon likes! He’s such a… minimalist. What do you get someone who doesn’t want anything?”
“Wow you’re really desperate aren’t you?” Theon looked at her sadly before giving her the biggest shit eating grin. “I mean. Knowing Jon, there’s only one thing he’d like to unwrap for Christmas. You know, tall, red hair, blue eyes, goes by the name Sansa-”
“Theon!”
He laughed. “What? You like him, Sans! Just make your move!”
She sighed. “Please be serious about this?”
“Alright, alright.” Theon thought for a bit. “I heard Tiles are all the rage now. You can get him that?”
“What’s are Tiles?”
“It’s like… like Find My iPhone, but like ‘Find My Whatever it’s Attached To’ instead.”
“Oh. Okay, yeah.” Sansa nodded. “Jon’s pretty forgetful, that should be good, right?”
“Yeah! Like they’re very handy. He can attach it to like -uh- his backpack? Uh… clothes- no. Uh.. a baby…”
Sansa looked at him like he was stupid. Which, fair.
“Oh! Oh, keys! Keys are what people usually attach them to.”
Maybe asking Theon for help was a bad move. Sansa doesn’t understand how she became such close friends with this idiot.
--
“Oh!”
Jon jumped and turned around. “Sansa? What are you doing up?”
She smiled wryly at him. “I could say the same thing about you.” When he did nothing but smile abashedly at her, she continued into the kitchen and got a mug out of the cupboard. “So,” Sansa said, after realizing Jon wasn’t going to say anything, “What’s someone like you doing up way past his bedtime?” As she continued on making her tea, she looked up to Jon, waiting for an answer.
Jon blinked at her. “Uh…”
Sansa chuckled. “That bad?” She finished making her drink and leaned on the counter, lightly blowing on the cup. “Well, I’m up because I’m a light sleeper. Especially when I’m stressed. Loud noises tend to wake me up.”
Jon suddenly felt incredibly guilty. “Oh gods, I’m so sorry. I didn’t realize I was being loud-”
“No no,” Sansa cut him off. “Sorry, that was poorly worded. Lady got up and had a late night snack.”
“Ah.” Jon  nodded in understanding and took a sip from his own mug. Hmm, she’s a light sleeper. Maybe I can get her a-
“Yeah, and my white noise machine doesn’t help much either.”
Nope. Jon sighed. What could he get for her? He cleared his throat. “So, what’s got you so stressed.?”
Sansa looked down at her mug. “A mix of a lot of things actually. This time of year always makes me feel a little melancholy.”
Jon scrunched his eyebrows.
“The ghosts of boyfriends past,” she explained.
Right. Jon’s known her for four years and she’s had a total of three boyfriends. Each one worse than the last in his humble opinion. And that had nothing to do with his crush on her, no sir.
“Yeah, Theon mentioned one earlier and it just got me thinking, you know?” Jon nodded at her to continue. “I’ve always loved the idea of some pretty prince charming sweeping me off my feet and showering me with gifts. Guess I realized, I don’t want any of that. Gifts are meaningless if there’s no thought or love behind them, you know?” She looked down embarrassedly, suddenly mortified that she just shared so much with him.
Jon gave her an out. “I still can’t believe you and Theon dated the same person.”
Sansa snorted. “Theon will date anything with pretty hair and a heartbeat.”
Jon cracked a smile. “Not ugly hair and a heartbeat?”
“Oh, gods no. He’s shallow like that.”
They both giggled.
“So…?” Sansa raised an eyebrow at him.
Oh, right. My turn. Jon cleared his throat. “Oh, um, yeah. Stress keeping me up too.” And then Jon suddenly had a thought. Is it considered cheating though? Oh well. “I have absolutely no idea what to get my Secret Santa if I’m honest. You -uh- got any ideas on what you’re getting yours?” He took a discreet sip from his mug.
Nope. “Yeah, I have an idea, I think,” she replied vaguely. “Something meaningful, you know? Can’t tell you though, sorry! It’s Secret Santa. But anyways, Jon, don’t sweat about the gift! This is supposed to be fun! Besides, you know us, we don’t need any fancy schmancy gifts.” How about you take your own advice, Sansa. “Now, that can’t be all you’re stressed about.”
Jon laughed in his drink. “Always so perceptive. No, you’re right. I mean- I am stressed about the gift, but I’m also just… I can’t help but think about my Mom, you know? Sure she has friends back home that she could spend Christmas with, but I can’t help but feel guilty for being here, while she’s at home alone right now. And I just really miss her.” He shrugged and took another sip of his drink. “So, whatcha got there? What kind of tea is it?”
“Oh, er, it’s chamomile. It helps me sleep.”
“That sounds nice. Maybe I should try that and see if it’ll help me sleep too.”
Yes! Maybe I can get him a pack of-
“Too bad I’m more of a hot water type of guy.” He smiled at her and took a sip from his mug. “Never really found the need to drink much of anything else at home.”
A fucking minimalist.
--
“So,” Arya said, “You got anything yet?”
“Nope,” came a muffled reply from Jon.
“Sucks.” He groaned in his hands and Arya felt pity. “Tell you what, I’ll let you in on a big Sansa secret.”
Jon perked up at that. “What?”
“She doesn’t give two fucks about gifts.”
“That… that doesn’t help, Arya.”
“No, I’m serious. Look,” she said forcefully, “Sansa’s had friends and boyfriends who’d always give her the most lovely and expensive gifts, right?”
“... Still not helping.”
Arya sighed. “What I’m trying to say is those boyfriends? Look around Jon, are they in her life anymore?”
--
It hit her like a shit ton of bricks. Well, actually. It was more of a passing thought as she was watching her third Christmas movie of the day.
So, with her parents’ permission and Theon’s help, she got to work.
--
Arya groaned. “You know, it’s called ‘1 hour photo.’ Meaning that the photos won’t be ready for one hour.”
“I’m sorry! I’m just anxious and I wanna get started as soon as possible.”
She rolled her eyes at Jon. He enlisted her help to buy all the things he needed for Sansa’s gift. And to provide some photos.
--
It was Christmas Day. It was Christmas Day and Jon found he was really missing his mother. He tried calling earlier, but she didn’t answer. She was either still sleeping in, as that was their usual routine, or she was at a friend’s. He sighed. He’ll try calling her again later on in the day.
Jon got up and joined the rest of the house downstairs.
--
It was Christmas Day. It was Christmas Day and Sansa was nowhere to be found. She told everyone they could get started on gifts without her if they wanted to, but of course no one was going to do that. So they planned on opening gifts after breakfast instead.
They were all in the kitchen eating when they heard the front door open and close.
“Sorry I’m late! I’ll join you guys in just a bit!” She shouted from the other room.
Jon eagerly stood up, intent on helping her with whatever last minute thing that she must’ve gone out to buy. But before he could even move, Theon promptly pushed him back down in his seat.
“Where ya going, buddy?”
“Just gonna see if Sansa needs any help.”
“No worries, I got it.” He proceeded to pour Jon a cup of orange juice. Jon confusedly thanked him and raised the glass to drink it. When he gave Theon a questioning look, Theon explained. “To help quench that thirst of yours.” Arya and Bran snorted into their food while Jon choked on his drink. Robb did neither of those things.
“Wow, you’re such a good friend, Theon!”
“Just getting into that Christmas spirit, Robb.”
He walked smugly out of the room to see whatever it was that Sansa had just gone out for. When Jon finally calmed down, he looked up to see Ned and Catelyn Stark staring right back at him. Both had their eyebrows up in amusement. Oh gods. I can never come back here again.
A few minutes later, Sansa and Theon returned. Jon noted there was nothing in either of their hands. He wasn’t the only one who  noticed.
“Didn’t get what you were looking for?” Bran asked.
“Nope,” Sansa replied nonchalantly, “Must be what I get for trying to go to the store on Christmas Day.”
“So you’re telling me we could’ve opened presents by now?” Rickon was shaking his head at his big sister. Hey may be well into his teens, but Rickon was still excited for Christmas gifts.
“Sorry! Tell you what, is everyone done eating? Let’s get to presents right now!”
Catelyn made a move to start clearing the table, but Sansa waved her off. “I’ll do it after we open presents Mom. Don’t worry about it!”
--
Everyone grabbed whichever gift had their name on it. To keep things anonymous, every gift was wrapped in the same paper and the names were stuck on with pre-printed stickers. Ned passed out the gifts to be opened one by one. When Sansa opened her gift she let out a soft gasp.
“Oh,” she whispered softly, “This is perfect.” She began flipping over each page of the homemade scrapbook. They were filled with photos from the last few years. A lot of the pictures were ones she didn’t even know were taken of her and her family. Family dinners, camping trips, random moments on campus with her friends and family. It was filled with small moments that she forgot had happened. There was even a wristband from a concert Robb and Jon and Theon had taken her to.
“What is it darling?” Her mother asked.
Sansa closed the book and held it close to her chest. “It’s a scrapbook. Filled with a lot of really good memories.” She smiled. She wondered who got her such a thoughtful gift. Before she could try to figure out who it was, Rickon interrupted her.
“Wait, where’s Jon’s gift?” He and Ned looked around the tree to see if they had missed one.
“Oh, no it’s okay!” Jon started waving his hands. “I don’t need a gift!” He was actually a bit relieved. He was awkward when it came to accepting gifts.
“Oh no!” Theon declared very loudly in a strange, overly dramatic voice. “Jon doesn’t have a gift? That’s awful!” At some point during that announcement, he had slowly tilted his head towards the stairs.
Sansa slapped her forehead in disdain. Theon doesn’t have a subtle bone in his body.
“Wait yeah, that’s not right,” Robb agreed. “Jon’s Secret Santa: what the heck?”
“No, I’m good!” Jon argued. “I don’t need a gift.”
“That’s a shame. Should I just hop on a flight and head home then?”
Jon froze when he heard the voice behind him. His jaw slowly dropped and he turned around.
The woman before him tilted her head and smiled. “Hi baby.”
“Mom?”
“Merry Christmas!” Lyanna laughed as her son rushed to hug her.
“What are you doing here?! How’d you get here? Is this why you didn’t answer your phone earlier? Oh my gods!”
Sansa smiled softly at Jon. She figured it out. The one thing he probably wanted most this year was to be with his mother.
“You’ve got some wonderful friends here, Jon.” Lyanna turned around and gestured to Sansa. “This lovely young woman here booked me a flight and picked me up from the airport this morning. If she’s not your girlfriend, then you better get to it!”
“Mom!”
Lyanna ignored her son then looked at the rest of the Starks and laughed. “You people really go all out for Secret Santa gifts don’t you?”
After the initial embarrassment, Jon looked at Sansa with a mixture of disbelief and awe. And she smiled sheepishly back at him.
“Surprise?”
Jon shook his head and chuckled. “I don’t know what’s more unbelievable. You booking a last minute flight for my mother, or the fact that we both pulled each other’s name for Secret Santa.”
Sansa’s eyebrows rose. “You made this for me?” She asked softly.
It was Jon’s turn to look sheepish. He scratched the back of his head, suddenly feeling bashful. “Uh… yeah. I couldn’t think of what to get you. And then you said how you think gifts are meaningless if there’s no thought for the person receiving it and uh, I know how you love your friends and family and-”
Sansa interrupted him by engulfing him in a hug. “Thank you. I love it.”
“Oh noooo, wouldja look at that?”
Theon had somehow attached a suspicious looking holiday plant to the fishing rod he got from his Secret Santa. And he was now dangling it above Jon and Sansa as he lounged on the couch.
Sansa, too busy glaring at Theon, didn’t notice Jon’s blush. When she turned back to Jon, she opened her mouth to give him an out, but he beat her to it.
“I’m game if you are.”
I am SO game.
Sansa leaned in and Jon met her halfway.
“Wait that’s holly, not mistletoe!”
“Robb, shut up. You’re ruining their moment.”
Let’s Chat!! | MASTERLIST
Warnings: None!
Word Count: 3.2K
With a wedding, there comes a lot of traditions.  The bridal shower, bachelor and bachelorette parties, picking out that one dress that feels magical, rehearsal dinners, and the old wives tale of not being able to see your future spouse twenty-four hours before you walk down the aisle.
A whole twenty-four hours.
It was insane really, you had friends who had just gone the night before their wedding without seeing their future and they seemed to be doing just fine.  But your mom got yourself stuck in your head with traditions this and traditions that. You didn’t know how much you believed in the myth that your marriage with Shawn would be doomed before it started if you saw him before your wedding.  But you weren’t willing to take the chance.  Just in case.
You had spent the day with Shawn and the bridal party, enjoying each other’s company like you did when you were teenagers.  There were a lot of drinking games involved that you barely participated in, but would partner up with Shawn if he gazed at you with gentle, pleading eyes.  It was going to be a long marriage if you couldn’t start saying no to him.
With having an early afternoon ceremony, it was the night before your twenty-four hours would go into effect, the last night you would spend with Shawn as his fiancé.  It was a curious feeling; definitely one of excitement because you would finally be able to call Shawn your husband.  But a bit odd because the more you thought about it, the more you realized that nothing would really change.  You two already lived together, already had sex, and already acted like a married couple.  The only change would be your last name and the extra band on your left hand that would leave your skin considerably paler than the rest.
You had just finished getting ready for bed and looked at the time.  It was nearing ten o’clock and you had about fourteen hours left with Shawn until the twenty-four hour rule would come into effect.  Spending a whole day a part from him seemed like torture, but it was a small price to pay for a lifetime with him.
The sound of the toilet flushing and the sink running brought you out of your thoughts.  You were curled into the hotel room’s duvet when Shawn appeared shirtless from the bathroom, sweatpants hanging on his hips.  He turned off the bathroom light and then made his way to the front of the room to turn all of the lights in the room off.
The darkness blanketed the room like the duvet weighing you down, but soon enough, the duvet lifted slightly off your body and you felt the mattress dip down.  Shawn inched his way closer to you so you were able to feel his breath hit your face, “Hi.”
You let out a small laugh, “Hey there.”
Before you knew it, Shawn’s strong arms reached out and pulled you in close to him.  A loud laugh escaped through your lips as Shawn nuzzled his head into your shoulder and pressed soft kisses on your neck.  You were so content with your life right now; every heartbreak you went through before Shawn, every heartbreak you went through with Shawn…everything led you to this moment, laying in bed, with Shawn as your fiancé, feeling like everything was perfect.
“So close,” Shawn mumbled into your shoulder before he brought his head up to look at you.  His face was so close to yours that you could see the excitement in his eyes, even through the pitch black, “Can’t we just elope? I wanna be able to call you my wife right now.”
You let out a laugh as you brought a hand up to his face, brushing away some of his curls, “I think both of our parents would murder us if they weren’t there.”
“Fair point,” Shawn fell back onto the mattress with a thump.  The warmth that radiated off him caused you to close your eyes and scoot closer to the heat of his chest, “It’s just so close.”
You nodded her head against his chest, “Just a little over a day now.”
“And you want to do that twenty-four hour thing?”
“I mean, yeah,”  you lifted your fingertips up to his stomach and started lightly drawing shapes, “Don’t want to jeopardize anything.”
He let out a deep breath, “If you really want to…” He sounded hesitant on the tradition and you poked his chest until he offered up more information, “It’s just––I think it’s a bit silly is all.  We’ve been together for years, and supposedly not seeing each other for twenty-four hours will make or break our marriage?”
“We’ve gone longer without seeing each other before,” you alluded to all the times Shawn had gone on tour and you wouldn’t see him for months, “and besides,” you pressed a kiss to his cheek, “Just think about how exciting it’ll be to see me walking down the aisle.”
A fond smile crossed over his face as he brought a hand behind his head, “I’ve been dreaming about that for years now.”
A smile lit up on your face, much like Shawn’s, when the two of you thought about meeting each other at the end of the aisle.  Like him, you had been dreaming of that moment for years now, probably longer than he has.
Your dreams were full of him standing with his back to yours, styled up in a sharp black tuxedo, as Brian stood by his side whispering in his ear how breathtaking you looked walking down the aisle.  You could already feel it in your stomach, the giddiness mixed with the nerves that came with walking down the aisle toward a new future with the person you would love forever.
And as you fell asleep in Shawn’s arms, you dreamed of the hydrangeas lined up by the pews, the blue charm bracelet Shawn gifted to you on your first Valentine’s Day together that would be clasped around your wrist, and the look on Shawn’s face when you two were finally able to look at each other after twenty-four hours.
A dream soon to be a reality.
•••
The morning you woke up you were already wishing that you stuck to only not seeing Shawn the night before your wedding instead of the full twenty-four hours.  The realization came to you when you woke up before him and lifted your head up to see him slightly snoring, one hand on his stomach as his chest moved up and down, with the corners of his lips turned upright.
Your heart ached that you were going to have to go a full day without seeing him.  But you already had your rehearsal ceremony and dinner last night, so there was no excuse to have a gathering of people again.
Shawn woke up not long after you, a lazy smile on his face as he pecked your lips after saying one word that made your insides explode; tomorrow.  You didn’t want to go down to the morning breakfast that was being held somewhere in the hotel for just you and your wedding guests.  You wanted to spend all the time you could with your future husband.
The moment just after the two of you were fully awake were spent in silence, enjoying each other’s presence, snuggled up under the covers.  It wasn’t until you were both texted by each of your mother’s requesting your presence in the breakfast room before all of the guests started showing up.  Reluctantly, you two trudged to the bathroom, getting ready side by side.
You followed Shawn out of the room and reached for his hand after he pressed the down arrow for the elevator.  You leaned into his side and rested your head on his arm, wanting to be as close to him as possible with your time ticking down.  When the elevator came, the two of you silently stepped in as he pressed a kiss to your temple.
Even after years together, butterflies still erupted in your stomach after every gesture of affection Shawn made, and you knew that it would still ring true when you’re seventy and graying.
Thankfully, the elevator didn’t make any stops to pick anyone up, so you continued to enjoy Shawn’s company in silence.  When the elevator dropped you off at the lobby, you quickly walked past the glass doors, a few screams erupting for Shawn were faintly heard, and while he would normally go out and say hi to his fans, you were his only priority for the next few days.
Once you were in the private room that held the breakfast, you saw a few family members already sitting down and eating.  When your mom and Karen saw the two of you walk in, they took their napkins off their laps and walked to you with beaming smiles.
“There are the love birds,” your mom said in a sing-song voice, “How was your last night together as fiancés?”
“Relaxing,” you said as you pulled away from Karen’s hug, “We were both exhausted so we passed out.”
“Likely story,” Aaliyah said with a smirk as she passed your little group with a plate of scrambled eggs and an assortment of breakfast meat.
“Aaliyah,” Karen reprimanded her daughter, as you and Shawn both let out an awkward laugh, “If they said they fell asleep, then they fell asleep.” Karen’s hard stare on her daughter softened when she turned to face you and Shawn, “I hope you two just slept.”
“Mom,” Shawn whined as you felt your face reddened, the carpet becoming more interesting than either of your mother’s questioning gazes.
You piped up, “I swear we just slept.”
Karen patted your cheek, “Oh, honey, I believe you,” she gave you a warm smile, one that gave off the impression that she had accepted you into the family a long time ago, “I believe you more than this one,” she jabbed her thumb over at her son, which only caused him to whine even more.
As family members and friends slowly trickled in, you and Shawn would greet them together or part ways for a brief moment to make sure you thanked everyone for coming.  Even though you would only be separated for a split second before you wrapped a hand around his arm, it felt too long.  The rest of the morning went like that, slow and always being by each other’s side.
Breakfast was over and now you and Shawn were checking with your wedding planner to make sure everything was good to go for the big day tomorrow.  Part of you was worried that something was going to go wrong.  It almost seemed too good to be true that nothing had gone wrong yet, but you trusted your wedding planner when she informed you that everything was set.  Only a teeny tiny weight that was lifted from your shoulders.
After the meeting with your wedding planner went better than expected, you were in a car to one of your favorite restaurants.  It was just past noon, you had just under three more hours with Shawn.  And much like the rest of the day, you spent the car ride in silence.  This would be your final thank you said together to your guests before you were Mr. and Mrs. Shawn Mendes.
The lunch went off without a hitch; jokes shared by friends, toasts said by both of your parents, and stories told by your grandparents.  You had not stopped smiling throughout the whole ordeal and that was partly due to the fact you kept gazing at your husband-to-be who sat next to you.  Every time he rested a hand on your knee out of habit, you smiled.  Every time he stole a piece of food off your plate, you smiled.  And every time he leaned in close, his breath tickling the side of your face, to whisper how much he loved you, and only you, into your ear, you smiled.
Guests were coming up bidding you farewells and saying how they couldn’t wait for the big day tomorrow.  You would laugh and agree with them; I’ve been waiting for this my entire life, Shawn would always say in response as he looked down at you with a glint of love he always held for you in his eyes.
It was quarter to three and your mother kept reminding you every ten minutes how much time you had left with Shawn. Now, it was only your closest friends and family left in the back room where lunch was held.  While your families mingled and your friends laughed, you and Shawn were still sitting at your seats, chairs facing each other, knees touching.
“Can’t we just do the thing where we don’t see each other the night before?” Your voice was shaky as you squeezed the top of Shawn’s hand that was resting on your knee, “Tweak it just a little.”
Shawn let out a small laugh, “Last night you were going off about how you didn’t want to jeopardize anything, what’s changed?”  You shrugged your shoulders and broke eye contact with him.  “Hey, look at me,” Shawn softly whispered with care in his voice as he lifted your chin up with the tips of his fingers, “Not getting cold feet, are you?”
“Shawn,” you weren’t in the mood for joking.  It was the day before your wedding and you should feel the happiest you’ve ever felt in your life.  But for some reason you felt devastated.  There was a weight in your chest that became heavier whenever the clock ticked closer and closer to three o’clock.  You couldn’t wait for tomorrow––to finally be able to call Shawn your husband––but you didn’t want to be separated from him.
“Sorry, sorry,” he offered you a smile, but you failed to return it, “But what’s up?”
You were silent, focusing your attention on your breathing.  You opened your mouth, but closed it back up quickly when you felt it go dry.  You tried to swallow down your emotions, pressure building in the back of your throat as you told yourself you weren’t going to cry.  You didn’t care that your jaw hurt from clenching your teeth so hard, or that the stinging behind your eyes was causing your throat to feel scratchy.
You weren’t going to cry.
With one more try, you opened your mouth to share your worries, but your mother had successfully cut you off, “Okay, lovebirds!” Her voice was far off, not wanting to disrupt the moment you two were sharing, “Officially less than ten minutes! Time to start saying your goodbyes!”
“Shawn.”
But instead of saying his name in a berating tone, you said his name out of desperation.  A single tear leaked from your eye, voice cracking, as your breathing grew heavier.  It seemed to click with him that you were upset about parting ways with him.
He immediately pushed his chair back, reaching down to your hand, and pulling you right up into his chest for a bone crushing hug.  You pressed your cheek tight up against his chest, hands clutching the back of his shirt, no doubt wrinkling his navy button down shirt.  His taut arms were wrapped equally as tight around your waist.  It was a bit difficult to breathe, but that didn’t matter to you at the moment, spending time without Shawn before the wedding already felt like you were suffocating.
With each kiss he pressed to the top of your head, a tear would fall from your eye.  There was no emotion other than joy that described how you felt about marrying Shawn.  He was your person––your home––and you felt safe in his embrace.  From the first time he hugged you, you could feel the care.  He was gentle with his touches, but there was always a firmness to his hugs, a need for him to protect you.
His hugs felt like home; a place you were able to confide your deepest sorrows, a place where he made you feel safe and appreciated for the person you are.
He pressed another kiss to the top of your head as he went to pull away, but you weren’t ready, so you only wound your arms tighter around his torso.  He let out a deep sigh, not wanting to be away from you either, “It’s just twenty-four hours,” he whispered only for you to hear, “Twenty-four hours in exchange for a whole life time together.”
A lifetime together.
You smiled through your tears and loosened your grip around his waist.  He took advantage of the little room you gave him as he slightly bent down and wiped his thumbs under your eyes, “I can already picture you walking down the aisle,” his eyebrows were pulled together, eyes glistening with tears that had yet to spill over as he smiled, “You’re going to look so damn beautiful.”
You choked out a laugh, tears still spilling out over your eyes.
“My dreams are coming true,” a tear finally slipped past his eye, “In just twenty-four hours, I won’t need anything else in the world.”
Instead of a cry of sadness, a cry of happiness passed through you as you dove your head back into Shawn’s chest.  You could feel a few pairs of eyes on you, but that didn’t concern you.  Your only concern was to be as close to Shawn as possible before your mother interrupted one of your moments again.
You savored everything from the hug; the fast thump of his heart against his chest, the scent of his shirt that had made its way into your clothes that were mixed in the wash, and the security that his hands brought when he rubbed up and down your spine…you tried to memorize everything.
Your mother didn’t have to come over to break up your moment; you knew that ten minutes was up and that it was time to part ways.  Shawn was first to pull away, and while you hummed into his chest in protest, you would rather have your moment ended by Shawn than your mother who was politely staying a distance away.
With his eyes closed, Shawn tilted his head to press a soft kiss to your lips, the last kiss before your wedding.  The kiss tasted salty from the small tears that continued to slowly fall from both of your eyes, but you still felt him pour all of his love into it.
Reluctantly he pulled away and gently rubbed his nose against yours, “See you in twenty-four hours, Mr. Mendes.”
It was the first time today where you felt the pre-wedding jitters in your stomach disappear.  The weight you felt on your shoulders, the anxiety you felt creep up your stomach; it all disappeared in that moment.
“See you in twenty-four hours, Soon-to-be Mrs. Mendes.”
Can please do some Lee janus and ler patton? Like Janus is being suspicious, and Patton is trying to figuring out what he is doing. It's fine if you don't want to write this.
(Warning: Interrogation Tickles, Intense Tickles.)
Roman rubbed his eyes, confused. Janus was on the floor, and Patton was sitting on his waist. Janus was using all his hands to keep Patton’s hands away from him.
“What’s going on?”
“Jan is being sneaky!” Patton said, wiggling his arms and trying to get to Janus with his hands. “And he won’t tell me what he’s doing!”
Roman raised an eyebrow. “And what are you doing?”
“I believe his intention is to tickle the information out of me,” Janus said coolly.
“Uh huh…” Roman looked around the room, spotting several suspicious-looking items, that he actually knew the purpose of. And he only knew because Janus had told him, asked him for advice.
It was Father’s Day soon, and Janus wanted to make Patton something. He and Roman had consulted on what to make, and Roman knew for a fact that Janus would never, ever tell.
And then Roman remembered how Janus had wrecked him the day before so unfairly with his many hands.
“You want some help, Pat?”
“Yes, please!”
Roman snapped, and bands shot up from the floor to circle Janus’s wrists and pull them down. Within Patton’s reach appeared a box full of tools.
“Oh, that’s perfect!” Patton said, beaming at Roman. “Thank you!”
“Anytime, Padre,” Roman said, smirking as he left the room.
••^*^••
Janus took in several deep breaths while Patton looked through the box. Roman was getting wrecked first thing tomorrow.
“I won’t tell you anything.”
“Oh, good!” Patton said. “That just means I get to tickle you longer!”
Janus was very good at acting, but it took all of his skill not to show how much that had flustered him. He subtly tugged at his arms, but they were stuck. Stretched out as far as they would go, with enough gap in between them for Patton to access his armpits.
“You can’t really think this will do you any good,” Janus said, keeping his voice steady and even.
Patton shrugged. “Either way, I get to tickle you. You want a safe word?”
“A safe word? You’re interrogating me. Wouldn’t a safe word defeat the point?”
“Not if you’re really determined not to tell me. Sanders is a good one, but we can go by red-yellow if you want.”
“You don’t take anything seriously, do you?”
“Oh, I take tickling very seriously,” Patton said. “Hurry up and pick a safe word, I want to use some of these toys!”
Janus sighed. He really didn’t understand Patton sometimes. “I’d rather use red-yellow.”
“Great!” Patton said happily. “Then let’s see how long it takes you to break,” he said, badly imitating a noir detective accent.
Janus’s breath hitched despite the silliness of the situation, and he looked away as Patton’s hands got closer, sneaking under his shirt and drawing small circles on his sides and stomach.
It didn’t even really… well, it tickled, but he could ignore it pretty easily if he was trying, and he had no problem keeping his face straight.
“Isn’t this fun?” Patton said cheerily. “Just little teeny tickles.”
Janus finally looked back at him. “What are you getting at?”
“Just making a contrast,” Patton said, before his hands suddenly darted into Janus’s armpits, scribbling ruthlessly.
Janus was caught completely off guard and made a strangled sound, digging his heels into the ground and arching his back hard, before his brain could make sense of the sudden overwhelming sensations and sent him head over heels into laughing so hard it made him see stars.
It only lasted a few more seconds before Patton went back to the soft, gentle circles, leaving Janus a confused, giggling mess.
“You wanna tell me what you were doing now, sweetheart?” Patton asked sweetly.
Janus gasped and giggled harder, trying to make it seem like he couldn’t talk yet.
“Oh, no, munchkin, I know you better than that,” Patton said, his hands darting back up into a different pair of armpits and sending Janus into squealing, desperate laughter.
Janus kicked and squirmed, but nothing got him free, not until Patton decided to be done and go back to drawing those soft circles again.
Janus was all helpless giggling now, rocking his torso back and forth as much as he could.
“So what were you doing, huh?” Patton asked, his fingers straying up.
“Nohohoho!” Janus begged, pulling at his arms.
“No? Are you sure that’s your answer?”
“Dohon’t!” Janus cried desperately as Patton’s fingers edged closer and closer. “Stohohop!”
“Don’t stop? Oh, you’re just eating this up, aren’t you?” Patton teased, digging into his underarms again.
It felt like an eternity before Patton stopped. Janus was dazed, unable to do anything but laugh, and barely able to think either.
“You wanna tell me now, darling?” Patton asked. “It’s only gonna get worse from here. I’ve got a whole box of Roman’s toys, and I haven’t gotten to use even one yet.”
Janus could barely remember what the question was, but the answer bobbed to the front of his mind, and he shook his head. He was never going to tell.
Patton’s smile turned evil, and he started undoing buttons on Janus’s shirt. Janus just tried to get his breath back, still having phantom tickles and giggling. The cold air hit his chest and stomach, making him shiver with anticipation, and maybe…. yeah, maybe he was having as much fun as Patton was, but he was never admitting that!
••^*^••
Patton started off with just a feather. Maybe it was a touch common, but oldies were goodies, and he just hadn’t decided what tool he wanted to use next! He dragged it around Janus’s torso very, very slowly, watching him wiggle more desperately every time he crept it too close to those ticklish little hollows.
He was a bit surprised that Janus hadn’t called yellow yet, but also more than a little proud! His Lee mood sense was never off, and there was a reason he was only just now confronting Janus when he’d known about the sneaky behavior for several days now.
Patton shuffled through the box again, enjoying the sweet giggles, but wanting something more. There were some little fake claws, and he’d passed over them several times, but then he realized. With Janus’s scales, the claws would be perfect!
“You get a bit of a break, my giggly, sneaky boy. You want some water?”
Janus nodded, and Patton snapped, summoning a cup of water with a very bendy straw that he put in Janus’s mouth. The claws were just a little tricky to get on, but he did it, wiggling his fingers to test them.
A scared little giggle from Janus made him smile. “Are you excited? I guess you don’t want to tell me then, huh?”
Janus burst into more giggles and shook his head.
Patton dragged one claw delicately over a patch of scales, and Janus wiggled all around, giggling hard and shaking his head back and forth.
Patton moved the cup of water so it wouldn’t get knocked over, and then attacked the scales that were scattered all over Janus’s belly and sides.
Janus shrieked with laughter, getting absolutely wild in a desperate attempt to escape, tears of mirth starting to slip down his cheeks.
“Oh, does this tickle? Does it tickle really, really bad?” Patton teased. “The tickle, tickle, tickles on your ticklish little scales?”
Janus shook his head violently.
“It doesn’t?” Patton asked, focusing all his attention on just one spot. “This doesn’t tickle? It doesn’t make you go absolutely crazy?”
Janus squealed, trying to shake his body to move the spot away from where Patton was tickling. But Patton just followed that tickly little place on his side wherever it went.
“Are you gonna tell me now?” Patton asked. “Cause I can stay riiight here for a loooong time, just tickly, tickly, tickling until you break.”
Janus seemed close to breaking already, his red face cracked wide open with his crazed smile, laughing so hard he was wheezing. His laughter turned to a silent scream, and Patton only kept going for a few seconds after that, watching his lips for any attempt to safeword. He didn’t, but Patton still gave him a break, teasing him the whole time about how cute he was when he was so desperate, and how he really was truly stuck, helpless and at Patton's mercy.
“You wanna tell me now, or should I find another fun toy? Beside you, I mean.” Patton said with a cheeky smile.
Janus was still just getting his breathing under control, but he shook his head stubbornly. “Not— Nohot telling you anything.”
Patton grinned. “Yay! More fun for me!”
He looked in the box again. He really wanted something soft this time. Effective, of course, but soft.
He picked up a little scrubber. Well, it was like a little round kitchen scrubber, except instead of bristles it had very many teeny shimmery feathers. And very conveniently on the top was a label. For bellies.
“Are you ready, Jan?” Patton asked, holding up the little scrubby.
To Patton’s surprise, Janus almost nodded before catching himself and lifting his chin stubbornly.
Patton smiled and set the scrubby down, moving it in small circles.
Janus went absolutely ballistic! Shocking Patton who knew his belly wasn’t his most ticklish place. But then he saw the slight glittery trail from everywhere the scrubby touched, and figured it must have something in it that tickled even more.
Janus was screaming with laughter, and it went silent far more quickly than Patton ever could have guessed. Patton carefully watched his mouth and hands, for any sign that it was too much, and was suddenly hit with the realization that he didn’t know how to get the glitter off.
Janus’s jaw bobbed in what was probably him trying to make a ‘Y’ sound, and Patton set the scrubby down quickly, swiping his hand across his belly, and only bursting into giggles from the intense tickling sensation on his palm.
Patton clapped hard, willing with everything in him for the glitter to go away. He opened his eyes, and Janus was slumped against the ground, gasping for air with a doofy grin on his face. Patton’s hand didn’t tickle any longer either. He moved up to card his hand through Janus’s hair gently.
“That one was a lot, huh?”
Janus gave a weak nod.
“Are you doing ok?”
Janus got a tiny bit of smirk to his smile. “Not gonna a-ask whahat I was do-ing?”
Patton smiled, more soft than evil. “Not yet, anyway. More water?”
“Lehet me catch my breath first.”
Patton carded his fingers through Janus’s hair gently while he caught his breath, only teasing a little about how much the little scrubby had tickled.
••^*^••
Janus felt as if he were slightly drifting in a delirious daze. He was almost all tickled out. So why didn’t he just call it quits? He could say the word at any time, and knew for a fact that Patton would respect it.
Did he really want so badly to be tickled this far past what he had thought were his limits? He didn’t dare answer that question, for fear of knowing for certain the truth of the matter.
Patton gave him quite a long break, and more water, before settling back over his thighs and bringing out that feather to tease him with as he searched for a new tool.
Patton’s teasing was mean, making his breath hitch every time he threatened to drag the feather down into one of his hollows, and then just the lighter tickles as if he’d only been joking all along. Janus knew better. The instant Patton decided he wanted to Janus would be laughing hard enough to see stars.
Patton still shuffled through the box. It seemed quite full, so Janus didn’t know why it always took Patton so long to decide. Unless he was just doing it on purpose to draw out the anticipation.
Finally Patton pulled something out of the box. “Look! It’s a little snake!”
Janus had no idea what a little toy snake was supposed to do. It was cute though, like a worm-on-a-string, but a bit bigger, and no string.
“I wonder how it works,” Patton muttered, turning it over in his hands. “I think it does something.”
Suddenly the snake leapt out of his hand to land on Janus’s belly.
“Oh, there we go!” Patton said happily. “You got one more chance to tell me what you were doing, or else I’m gonna come after those soft, tickly little hollows again.”
Janus froze, his eyes getting wide.
“Is that a no?” Patton teased, his fingers coming to draw circles on Janus’s sides.
“W-won’t tell you,” Janus forced out.
Patton’s grin turned feral. The snake started moving, undulating, it’s soft fur tickling with every movement, and it was moving straight for his armpit.
Janus had just enough time to gasp out a “Wahait!” before it attacked. The evil creature curled up inside, and then uncurled, tickling horribly ever second of the way. Janus couldn’t have resisted laughter anyway, but even were he not already tickled half to pieces he wouldn’t have been able to resist this.
And then he glimpsed Patton moving, pulling out more snakes. Three more snakes.
Patton released them upon Janus, and they each kept switching, so not only was he dying from laughter, there was no chance of getting used to it. And Patton, evil Ler that he was, somehow thought that it wasn’t enough torture, and dug in with his fingers in whichever two of Janus’s underarms were empty. The massive difference in the sensations was sending him over the edge.
Even all of it together wasn’t as bad as that cursed feather thing, but not by much. Janus couldn’t even fight back anymore, entirely trapped beneath Patton’s fingers and helpless to his whims.
His sanity was slipping from him, and it seemed as if the whole world were only the terrible, wonderful sensations drowning his senses.
He couldn’t stand it anymore! It tickled so bad! And it never ended. Never would end. Patton would never have enough of his desperate laughter.
His mouth barely managed to form a “Re” before it broke into a screech as Patton managed to hit a spot somehow even more sensitive. But Patton’s head popped up, searching his face, his hands stilling, and at Janus’s next attempt to say red, he stopped the snakes immediately.
He came back to card his hands through Janus’s hair, all gentleness and no more teasing.
“You did so well, my sweet Lee. All done?”
Janus nodded, still giggling from a million phantom tickles racing over him.
“Oh, you took so much, didn’t you?”
Janus nodded.
“Well, I’d say that’s more than enough to let you keep your secrets, hmm?”
Janus nodded, glad that Patton would drop it now, and pressed his head up into the soft, gentle hand.
Patton cooed over him a bit more, and then left his head to release his hands, and to worry over each one in case Roman had tied it down too tight. He picked Janus up, despite the fact that Janus was limp and couldn’t help at all, and set him gently on the couch. He got him more water, and a soft, sweet snack that Janus was too dazed and tired to even identify.
Janus set aside his plate when he was done, and just tipped forward, butting his head into Patton’s shoulder in hopes that he would play with his hair. Patton went over and beyond, laying back and letting Janus lay on top of him as he rubbed his back and stroked through his hair, not one hint of tickles anywhere.
It didn’t take long at all for Janus to fall asleep, his final thoughts determined to make the gift for Patton as grand and perfect as he could manage.
Take My Leave /2 - Zuko x Reader
warnings: none
requested one shot
part one part three
The clouds remained dark as did my mood, it had been more than two weeks since the ‘event’, it was a slow recovery. I was in a horrible headspace, I had cried even when the tears stopped coming, with a question that won’t leave me, was I not enough? I am not enough. ”(your name), there’s a nice food shop that had just opened up. Do you want to come with us?,”Katara interrupts my thoughts, I straighten up and face her, her eyes held sadness in then and it just makes me feel more upset,”I don’t really feel like it,”I again turn away from her,”come on (your name), it’s time to get out there again,”she tries to convince me but I only shook my head. Without another word Katara leaves me, its just silence again but it’s broken from the chatter outside my door,”she doesn’t want to go,”Katara tells the others apologetically,”It’s so sad to see her like that,”Aang sighs.
“Here let me have a go”
The door creaks open, Sokka’s head pops through,”Hey!”he squats beside me by the window, looking out to the city. “I heard they’ve got the best dumplings of all the land and I know you like stuffing your face with it until you literally explode,”Sokka chuckles, I stare at him and his eyes did not hold sadness but mischief, as always,”look your cheeks have become all bone, we need to get you to a dumpling eating contest,”he pokes my cheek and a small smile plasters itself on my face before a hearty giggle breaks through, I shake my head and his eyes lights up even more, “oi there’s that smile, has it been on vacation?”he continues to joke and for the first time in weeks I felt interested and happy. “So you wanna join us? Don’t worry it’s just gonna be the old gaang,”he tilts his head awaiting for my response, I hesitate but answer him,”I guess.” It had been awhile, I don’t know if I’m ready to move on but I am tired physically and emotionally from the slump that I have been in. A large grin overtakes the water tribe man’s face before bouncing off of the room, “she’s gonna join us!”he rejoices and the others join in his excitement. I shake my head before standing up and heading for the closet, where a tiny selection of clothes rests. I pick out a simple summer robe, combing my tangled head of hair and I stare at myself in the mirror, tired eyes paired with dark bags underneath, I was not a pretty sight. I decided to apply light make up to help with my appearance and walked out of the room, I had been hiding in.
“Oh great you’re done,”Katara says, almost taken aback by my clean appearance,”come on guys, let’s head out,”Toph grumbles, stomping on the floor,”last one there gets no dumplings,”Aang and Toph dashes past the door with Katara trailing them, I watch the scene before me, smiling a little, I have missed those goof balls. “We’re gonna miss out on dumplings if we don’t run,”Sokka takes my hand and pulls me out into the cold air, the streets were lively unlike me, after walking for what felt like ages we stop at a small restaurant decorated with bright lights and giant drawing of a dumpling, Aang, Toph and Katara were already stuffing their face with dumplings.
“Wait for us you pigs,”the sight makes you chuckle and happily joined them, it had been ages since I have felt happy and it felt good, a bubbly feeling takes over my senses and couldn’t help but smile. “Yay look (your name)’s smile is back,”Katara cheers, earning strange looks from our neighbouring tables,”who knew dumplings was all it took,”Aang jokes making everyone laugh and I couldn’t help but join in.
“Man I am stuffed,”Aang pats his slight larger stomach,”you’re heavier too, I can feel your steps,”Toph teases Aang who in turn pouts, I pat him on the back,”it’s okay you’re not as large as Sokka,”I point to the water tribe man behind us who’s sluggishly walking, almost making everyone double over in laughter. We enter our shared flat, my heart drops and my stomach churns, all of a sudden I want to throw up my dinner but I was so happy to see him. The man I had loved sat on the living room couch, he sits tall and proud in his Firelord robes,”what are you doing here?”Sokka was the first one to break the silence,“I need to speak to (your name),”his tone dripping in what sounds like desperation,”you have no fucking right to be here,”Sokka almost growls, standing defensively infront of me. “Zuko, leave this house,”Katara now speaks up also shielding me from the said man, “I just want to explain everything to her,”the great Firelord pleads his voice quivering, I take a peak and see the black haired man, he looked like a mess. Though he presented himself well, he was noticeably more tired, his hair was a mess and his face more stressed than ever, it’s as though the male had aged in the weeks. The Firelord raises his head and our eyes both meet, it hurt me to see the man I had loved in this state but I pushed the feeling away,”(your nickname),”he calls out to me, I stand frozen in my spot and the feeling of anger bubbles in me as I remember the pain and hurt he’s put me through.
“You have lost you’re right to call me that,”I say calmly, surprising everyone including myself, his eyes plead with me,”I think it’s best you leave,”I try keep a bored expression on my face,”you heard her Zuko, you should leave,”Sokka tells the dark haired man. “No please, (your name) please just let me talk to you then I’ll leave I promise,”I cringe hearing his voice. “I swear Zuko, if you don’t leave o-,”I put my hand on Katara’s shoulder, she turns to me in confusion,”I’ll speak to him,”they all look at me bewildered but I continue,”just to get it over and done with.”
“Are you sure (your name)?”
“Yes,”I nod and they all leave for their respective rooms,”call out if anything happens,”Sokka says before ducking into his room, I walk towards my room and wait for Zuko to follow, he catches on and enters, I shut the door and sit myself at the small living area my room had. “I’ve missed you so much.”he glances around my room,”Zuko let’s save the small chat and just cut to the chase,”I sigh, I’ve missed you too, the feeling of dread returning. He moves to sit in the sofa across from me,”I’m really sorry, I’m sorry for what I did and for what I have said to you,”he begins, I’m shut my eyes feeling the tears threatening to spill,”(your name) I love you, please come back to me,”his own tears starts to spill,”I can’t do that Zuko, I don’t want to be with you,”my tears betray me as they too now fall freely from my eyes,”I loved you Zuko but you’ve hurt me. Everything I ever did was for you and for us but you were too busy to see,”I pour my thoughts and heart out to him, all the things locked up in my mind now out. “But this time I’ll change, please give me another chance,”I shake my head, wiping the falling tears,”Zuko I don’t want to be with you anymore,”I sobbed.
“Please (your name), I need you. You’re my soulmate,”I scoff, unbelievable,”if I was your soulmate? Then why’d you cheat on me?,”he sits silent and that was all the answer I needed, all the memories and promises we had whispered to each other had just been nothing to him, all my hopes and dreams I have cried to him we’re just jokes. “Exactly Zuko, now please leave me alone. You’ve got a nation to run,”I turn away from the man.
”I no longer love you,”lies
“I don’t know why I did it, I regret it (your name). You are all I need, now I know,”he finally answers, he pleads to me, his eyes raw from crying, I shake my head,”well I’m sorry, you realised it too late. Please leave Zuko, we’re just going in circles now,”I bite my lip preventing sobs to break through. “Can we at least be friends?”he looks up to me, eyes still hopeful, “I don’t know, I need to think about it, I don’t know if I want to be close to you,”I want to be close again, I need to move on, I hesitate but hold firm on my answer.
“Goodnight (your name), I love you. I’ll take my leave”
Reader w/wings hc's p.2: lesser- known egos/egos i just didn’t wanna put in the last one
Tumblr media
ty @fancybootm for the request!
A/N: IT’S BEEN A WHOLE ASS MONTH SINCE I GOT THIS I AM SO FUCKING SORRY. school is suck. anyways. my brain convinced itself that I had to have the same amount of egos in this one as the last one so shit's long again. I had a bit of trouble but scrounged up enough of them. uhhh I don't... we don't really know a lot? about the personalities of these ones? so I just went with what I thought. for Heistiplier, I like to think Mark in AHWM and ADWM is a completely separate person from Actor. Like until we get to the Actor timeline he is a separate person altogether. Night Guard Mark is like mark from the fnaf musical because i can and fuck you. the egos are very random and from many lesser known videos so uh. you might not know all of them. I didn’t even know all of them at first. some of these fuckers annoy me to no end so I had to make them more likable for my own sanity cjfufydy. I only skimmed through after I wrote so it might suck lol. Uh rated T for cursing. Mentions of religion and mental health. Enjoy!
Y/N(reader) w/ wings headcanons p.2
Ed Edgar saw you as a profiting opportunity.
Bastard only uses you for commercials at first
Wings sell shit, don’t they? Kids are into wings these days?
One day you get pissed and just punch him
He respects you after that…
He’s very loud, of course, and your ears tend to be sensitive
He tries to quiet down when he sees you make a face
It’s difficult because that… that’s just his normal volume
He talks about his son sometimes. Not to you specifically
He gets sad… you still don’t completely understand what happened.
Sometimes it feels like he doesn’t either
You instinctively wrap your wings around him for Safety and Comfort
He is a MAN who DOES NOT CRY but goddammit, he was close
He enjoys your company
The Silver Shepherd thought he was gonna rescue you
He’s a superhero, he HAS to save you, right?
Nah, you’re the one saving him more often than not
He tries not to be jealous, but goddamn
Your wings are just. So big. And pretty
He’ll complain to you about his girlfriend “cheating” on him
You know the bullshit he pulls, but you listen because why not
He appreciates that you at least pay a little bit of attention
He doesn’t do a whole lot of hero work, but he usually brings you along
Just for a bit of extra support
More often than not, you’re doing most of the work
You let him believe he did something, though
You boost his very low ego, and so you get along
Derek Derekson was a little bitch
Also saw you as a profiting opportunity
Yelled sometimes when you messed up
You took deep breaths and tried to stay calm the first few times
Then you snapped, calling him a variety of... words...
He stopped yelling at you, but not much else changed
You got along well with Eric, and he appreciated you for that
He does care about his only living son, at least a little
You two don’t… talk a lot
He’ll watch you from afar, occasionally
You constantly encourage him to TALK TO HIS CHILD and GO TO THERAPY
You still don’t like him, and he feels the same way
But he’s… trying
Randall Voorhees thought you were badass
He wasn’t as used to magic and weird shit as the others
You were absolutely awesome to him
He’d never seen an angel before!
Even though he didn’t really KNOW that you were an angel
He just assumed and refused to change his mind
Harder to hide you wings in crowded cities, like where he lives
You spend a lot of your time with him cooped up in his apartment
He felt bad, so he rents a mountain cabin up in Albany whenever you visit
You two ski and snowboard look me in the eyes and tell me the bitch isn’t a snowboarder
He’s a construction worker, so he’s usually busy
You visit him on his lunch break sometimes.
The other workers claim to see you, but he’ll always deny it
He buys a pizza whenever you visit and you eat it together
You two are so cute it’s sickening
Yandereplier claimed you as their new senpai
They saw you, you had wings, you were nice
And now you are Senpai
You aren’t sure why you get a weird feeling whenever they call you this
Luckily, you don’t have many friends, at least none that they could kill…
They showed you their weapon collection to impress you
You were scared and also impressed
They take you to a cherry blossom tree near their house
You talk and hang out and eat lunch
They don’t call you senpai anymore and they talk to you normally
And you no longer stare at the blood on their uniform
Night Guard Mark prayed you wouldn’t try to kill him
He might have PTSD from Freddy Fazbear’s
Those animatronics left a mark…
It took a little while for him to trust you not to harm him
When he did, HOO BOY is he a chatterbox
He has so many theories about the Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza Chain
Dark’s told you not to talk about the actual lore. It might break his spirit
You get very worried sometimes
He looks like that one picture of Charlie Day. You know the one.
Sometimes he gets panic attacks
You wrap him in a cocoon of your limbs and wings to ground him
He likes you for that
You hang out, playing games and watching movies. No horror. Absolutely NONE
You can handle him, and he likes you
Dr. Plier was curious about you
He wondered how you felt about… everything
He asked if you were ok one day and you broke down
He felt guilty and bought you ice cream
He sees you as a sort of… psychological experiment
Like he asks you very strange and slightly personal questions
Ok, very personal, but he’s a therapist, what can you do
He eventually stopped the interrogation and talked to you normally
You get along fine, but it’s kind of the same situation as Dr. Iplier
Chef Iplier wasn’t really all that phased
You were surprised by this because… well… wings
But he just… treats you normal, for the most part.
Sometimes he’ll pet your wings, but only if you let him
He loves how soft your feathers are
He doesn’t make that his entire perception of you
It’s a nice change of pace
He tries to cook for you sometimes, but uh. It doesn’t go well
You’re still confused as to how someone can set a glass of water on fire
You mostly just order take out
You hang out like normal people
Which neither of you are, but you’re both fine with that
Paranormal Investigator Mark is obsessed with figuring you out
Nearly had a panic attack when he first saw you
He wanted to prove the supernatural exists, but he didn’t have a lot of evidence before
And then your mystical-ass came along
Like the Jims, he tried to get pictures, and they all ended up blurry
He threw a fit over it, and you felt kinda bad
You tried to take the picture yourself but it came out the same
He gave up after a while
He info dumps about paranormal stuff to you
It can last from 5 minutes to 5 hours
You do pay attention though, and that makes him happy
He takes you on investigations sometimes
You don’t do much except break shit with those giant wings of yours
He stopped taking you on investigations
Cooliplier is not sure what to think
You have wings! Great! There’s absolutely nothing he can do about that
Not the most normal, but not the weirdest either
He tends to put on a tough-guy persona around new people
You were a lil intimidated
Then you became friends and mans did a full 180 around you
Went from “Your daughter calls me daddy too” to “I’ll have her home by 9 sir”
His personality is sort of a mix of the two
Catch you both screaming the lyrics to Mr. Brightside at 12:00 am
Took you to a mosh pit once
You got kicked out cause of the wings
He felt bad, but you had fun
He teaches you how to dance and roller skate
You also go for rides on his motorcycle
Once you just started flying while he was driving and it was the most fun shit ever
You’re “buds”, as he often tells you
Goopiplier likes you a lot
They like having another not-completely-human creature to talk to
I mean, some of the others aren’t exactly human…
But they’re not the best conversationalists…
Then again, neither is goop.
They mention the Dark Gods ONCE and suddenly no one wants to talk to them…
But you do!! Yay!!!
You mostly just hang out, do whatever
Watch movies, play games, or just talk
They like to draw you
They’re not very good, but you keep them all anyways
Sometimes they do… rituals. While you’re around
You are… a little scared, but that’s okay!
You have sleepovers and act like teenagers
You mock the others and then giggle, getting louder as you go
They’re not that funny, but you had to be there
Elder Jeremiah is terrified of you
He nearly pissed his pants when he saw you
He thought he was finally going to have to pay for his sins
He started crying, and you panicked
Why the FUCK was this 20-something-year-old well-dressed man crying at you???
He dropped his bike and fell to his fucking knees and begged for forgiveness
You felt very uncomfortable with the whole situation
You told him to get up bc he was dirtying up his pants
He eventually stopped crying and you told him you were not an angel
Also not a demon, as you said when he asked
He avoids you, mostly, still thinking you’re gonna drag him down to hell
He stopped the uh. The stealing since you came around
He will hang around/with you sometimes to see if you “reveal your true form”
You haven’t yet, and never will, BUT WHEN YOU DO, HE’LL BE THERE
He does think you’re very nice, though
Preistiplier thinks you’re an angel sent to assist him
He is doing holy work, it only makes sense that He would send a helper
He was disappointed, to say the least
He then came to the conclusion that you lost your memory of being an angel
You couldn’t exactly dispute it, since you don’t remember
So, he takes you on hunts
You don’t do much except make a bunch of fucking NOISE with your WINGS
He’d hoped you’d smite the demons
Or at least scare them, but they know you’re not an angel
He still takes you on hunts because, he’d never admit it, but he… gets scared
You promised not to tell a soul
You confess your sins to him sometimes
They’re usually not what he considers sins, but he listens anyways
He thinks you are a good person, and he enjoys conversations with you
Heistiplier was just normal around you
Well… as normal as he can be
You’d enjoy his company a lot more if he didn’t have such a god complex
You still like him a lot
He likes you too
Even if you did refuse to rob a bank with him
He’s a very… exciting person
Though you don’t really want to be around him when he gets upset
The entire world literally seems to revolve around what he does
He’s a drama queen, and completely feral
It’s worrying at times
You two are normal friends
Playing video games, watching youtube, etc. etc.
You listen to his stories and wonder how he's not dead yet
But you can admit, he's really fucking funny
Come Home to My Heart, Chapter 3 (Lemyanka) - Plastiquedoll
read on ao3 ✨| chapter 1 2
A/N: hi! I hope you like this new chapter as it goes deeper on the feels™️ I really wanted to give the characters more background (and a little bit of angst whoops) and finally, there are new names dropping yay! Again, there’s a time skip of two years this time. Enjoy & thanks for reading <3
-3-
When Priyanka turned fifteen, she discovered new things she loved. She loved dying the tips of her hair with bright colors every two weeks and a half, she loved skateboarding, she loved being the center of attention and a little bit of a class-clown at school, she loved hanging out with her group of friends, she loved the phone calls with Lemon to catch up and talk shit about everyone…
“Okay, can you hear me now?”
“Yeah, yeah, that’s better.”
Priyanka peeped through the hallway hoping no one would decide to interrupt them. She nervously removed the shiny red nail polish with her teeth as they tried to re-connect, if her mother saw her she would’ve scolded her on the spot. The landline phone was solid red plastic with buttons and wires, it was age-worn but at least it wasn’t like her grandparent’s phone with the rotary dial system or it would take hours to get all those area code numbers correct and get Lemon on the other side.
“Thank God. I’m literally inside the closet just like in The Parent Trap. I told my mom I was calling my grandma because last time our phone bill had several zeroes.”
Priyanka chortled and entangled the curly wire with his fingertips. “Sorry about that… so, you were saying… about the audition?”
“Oh, right! I’m trying to get into this dance academy that’s supposed to be the best of the best and the audition waiting list is a nightmare… but they called me the other day and said I’ll have shot in two weeks.”
“Oh. My. God. Lemon that’s awesome!”
“I know! I feel it, Pri. I know I can do it but… I don’t want to assume anything until I get there. I’m confident in my skills but what if they perceive that confidence as cockiness or something like that. I was talking to Jan the other day and she said-”
“Wait, who’s Jan?” Priyanka frowned before the unfamiliar name.
“Jan. Jan! My friend Jan? We have Biology and Math together, remember?”
“I don’t think I’ve heard her name before.”
“I’m sure I have mentioned her… anyway. Jan is madly talented –like, she can sing- and she auditioned for music school like a year ago and told me that…”
Jan. She hadn’t mentioned a Jan before… it was weird for Priyanka that knew all Lemon’s New Yorker friends’ names and she was pretty sure Lemon remembered all her friends’ names as well.
“… anyway, I’ll keep my head high and hope for the best. I’m training extra hard these days to make it. My muscles are sore and I can’t feel my legs right now but hey, no pain no gain.”
“I’m sure you’ll do great.”
“Thank you.” She paused as if she wanted to say something else, Priyanka could hear her breathing, but then she continued chattering. “Also, my mom got promoted again and now she bought a computer I can e-mail you the day of the audition. But tell me, how are things over there? Did the girls work their differences yet?”
“You know Scarlett, she won’t shut up and-”
“Priyanka, it’s dinner time.” Her mother announced from the kitchen.
She sighed. “Shit. I have to go or my mom is going to cut the phone wires. She says this time is for real.”
“Oh, okay… I’ll call you soon then.”
“Yes, please call me right after the audition or before if you wanna talk… you know. Break a leg or whatever… make sure is figuratively speaking, please.”
She heard Lemon’s giggle on the other line and something inside her went softer.
“I will… and I will be there for Christmas this year, I made my mom promise it.”
“Fingers crossed.” She said before hanging up.
When she looked at herself in the mirror she had a silly grin on her face that couldn’t be erased.
Lemon hadn’t been back in a long year and a half. After spending the first holidays after her parents’ divorce with her dad in Canada, she had to spend the next one with her mom in the Big Apple. Plus, her father got to travel to New York quite often those days and got to see her a lot. She sometimes sent things for Priyanka with him, a nice hoodie, a makeup bag, one of those stupid tourist t-shirts with the Statue of Liberty printed on it, sometimes a pair of dangling earrings or a simple letter and a picture of her. She treasured each of those little trinkets.
Priyanka was saving money from her allowance and was hoping to get a job soon so she could buy a car someday and visit her friend in the big city, they might even go on a road trip over the summer, it was a nice thought to hold onto until they could hang out again.
On the day of Lemon’s audition, Priyanka was restless. She got kicked out of one of her classes because she kept fidgeting, twitching, moving around, and chewing gum. It drove her teachers insane. Scarlett and Kiara mocked her from the window of the classroom and then got a warning as well.
Later that day she cleaned all her room to avoid thinking. She found several pictures of her and Lemon over the years –including that one time they tried Lemon’s mom makeup for the first time, Lemon was missing her two front teeth-, there were some photos from their first days of school and even Lemon at Priyanka’s plays. She was so pissed when she got that old lady role instead of the main character but she had managed to steal the scene anyway.
As the sun was setting, she didn’t know what else to do. She did the dishes without offering resistance and then got into an argument with her little sister who wanted to watch Hannah Montana while Priyanka just wanted to watch the new episode of America’s Next Top Model. She had to admit it though, the intro of Hannah Montana was kind of catchy (something she would never admit to her sister).
It was almost quarter to nine and she still didn’t have any news. There was a two-hour time difference with New York but still… it was gnawing her from the inside.
Right when Tyra was about to reveal which model got to stay for another week, the phone rang in the hallway and she couldn’t jump out of the couch fast enough.
«You have a phone call from-» Press one to accept, yeah, yeah, she knew that.
“Lemon?” She didn’t even wait for a «hello».
“Pri? Is it you?”
The sound of her voice brought her back to life, she could hear the sound of her heart beating again.
“Yes, it’s me! How did it go?”
“Oh my God, Pri… I’m calling you from a payphone in the middle of Times Square, this is insane. The girls lend me some cash to call you.” Priyanka could hear the sound of the traffic and even some giggles coming from outside of the phone.
“And? You’re killing me here, Lemz.” She had her fingers crossed even when she couldn’t see that gesture through the call and was holding the phone against her ear with her shoulder.
“It was so difficult I thought I was never going to learn the steps I’m literally so exhausted right now but…”
But.
“I got it, I got the spot!”
Priyanka started screaming.
“Priyanka!” Her mother shouted.
“Sorry…sorry!” She covered her mouth with her hand.
Lemon was cackling.
“Lemz, I might get in so much trouble for this but… Congratulations, I’m so happy for you!”
“Thank you.” She sounded truly happy, Priyanka wished she could see her right at that moment. “Jan, can you give me another quarter? Thanks, doll.”
That girl Jan again.
“So what are you girls are up to?”
“We’re going to get some pizza to celebrate. Jan is here as you heard, so are Goona, Rosé, Jackie… They say hi.”
“Tell them I said hi too.”
“She says hi… No, I’m not telling that, shut up…”
“What is it?”
“They are being assholes as usual… Listen, I have to go, I’m running out of coins and I still have to call my mom.”
“Okay, we’ll talk soon… I’m so happy for you… Love you.”
“Love you too! See you in a few weeks.”
“Yeah. I can’t wait.”
“Bye, Pri.”
She hung up but stood next to the phone for a moment, staring at it.
Just a few more weeks.
Priyanka kept begging her older brother to teach her how to drive. It took a few weeks of insistence until he gave up and the lessons started. They only stopped when the snow got too thick and the roads too slippery to practice. Still, by that time Priyanka was almost an expert. She needed to perfect her parking skills before turning sixteen and that would be it.
She also needed a car but that was the least important part.
“So when’s your girlfriend coming to town?” Scarlett asked.
Priyanka choked on her hot chocolate and coughed a couple of times. “Lemon’s not my girlfriend.”
Kiara rolled her eyes.
“Ah, yes, I can’t wait to finally meet her!” Juice –the latest addition to their group- said.
They were at the coffee shop, outside was freezing cold and the smell of fresh-baked pastries had dragged them inside the warm environment. Scarlett was having a black coffee while Priyanka and Kiara had their respective hot chocolate with marshmallows and Juice ordered a cappuccino with whipped cream and sprinkles on top.
“So?” Scarlett arched a brow.
“Her flight is booked for next week if the snowstorms allow them to fly.”
“I remember you two from primary school; they were joined by the hip, even before you shared diapers or something.” Kiara mocked.
“Oh, that’s right. You were in her classroom in kindergarten back when Ilona prevented everyone from playing with her.”
“That’s because Lemon spilled some paint over Ilona’s drawing… it was kids’ things. We all forgot when some random kid wet his pants or whatever.”
“And when did the crush began?”
Priyanka shot daggers at Scarlett with her eyes.
“I don’t have a crush on her. She’s literally my best friend, you guys are delusional.”
“Sure…” Kiara stirred her chocolate. “But it’s been what? Almost two years since she graced us with her presence?”
“Yeah, her parents didn’t want her to travel alone last time so her father flew to New York.”
“All jokes aside,” Scarlett changed her irksome ‘let’s pick on Priyanka’ tone for a minute. “Are you going to tell her about…?”
At the age of fifteen, Priyanka discovered she didn’t like kissing boys.
It had been at a lame party in a basement, her classmates had invited her and one of them suggested they should play seven minutes in heaven. Priyanka was about to skip it and refill her paper cup with cheap vodka and orange juice when she got dragged by the wrist and pushed into the closet with a guy from the hockey team. She suspected he had a crush on her for the longest time and this was instigated by his friends but the moment the door was locked, she panicked.
Her friends tried to get her out of there but there were a few underdeveloped brains and much muscle blocking the door. So she guessed she was doing it. The guy wasn’t that bad –she liked to believe- he told her they didn’t have to do anything she didn’t want to and he was what most girls of the classroom referred to as «handsome». Priyanka shouted she was okay to calm down her friends and figured the best she could do was getting over it once and for all.
It was her first kiss.
The guy had rough lips and a slippery tongue and it was in the middle of all that smooching when his hand went under her lower back that she knew, she wasn’t enjoying it at all. She pushed the guy aside and used the back of her hand to clean her lips, she’d need some mouthwash as well. He asked if everything was okay but she was too condescending and told him that she was feeling dizzy.
The door was unlocked when he asked his friends to do it. Priyanka walked back –ashamed-to her group of friends as Kiara told them they were all disgusting and how stupid the game was. Priyanka called her brother from a phone upstairs and left soon after. For the first time, she was quiet on the way back home.
Later that night when she was laying on her bed in the darkness, she couldn’t stop thinking about it, thinking about how she was supposed to feel kissing that guy -any guy- or thinking about the fact that she wasn’t even remotely attracted to boys but mostly, thinking how she so wished that guy was someone else, how she wished that guy was a girl.
The following week at school the not-so-nice-guy had told everyone that Priyanka was basically a slut and if it wasn’t because she was so wasted, they could’ve gone to third base in that closet that very night. Priyanka wasn’t ashamed anymore, she was angry. Very angry. During lunch, she walked directly towards him and exposed him in front of everyone, not only denying the absurdity of those rumors but also stating that she would never even consider touching his small dick.
After that, Priyanka was done with guys, boys, and men in general.
She had a heart-to-heart conversation with her friends afterward but –to no one’s surprise- she ended up with the least heterosexual and most supportive group of friends in the world.
Still… she hadn’t been able to tell Lemon yet. She had tried but there was something about phone calls that didn’t help at all, she wanted to tell her in person, she wanted to see her face and know that everything was okay. And she planned to do it during her visit.
“I’ll try.” Priyanka stated, hoping the universe cooperated with her.
“Good. So you can make out under the mistletoe next.” There she was again.
“Okay, you two,” She pointed at Scarlett and Kiara. “you have to stop it or I’m going to do you guys dirty and you know I can.”
They started laughing, clearly taking Priyanka’s threaten lightly.
“That’s it! You,” She directed toward Kiara. “I have seen you drooling over Kyne the entire semester.”
Kiara went pale.
“And you two…” She turned back to Scarlett and Juice that were cackling sitting on the couch. “Yes, I’m talking to you, do you really believe I haven’t seen the way you look at each other, those stolen glances, the subtle touches? Please, is this a Jane Austen novel or what? You ain’t that smooth.”
“Hey! I didn’t say anything!” Juice protested.
Scarlett’s mouth turned into a thin line and her ears were suddenly pink colored. She murmured something Priyanka couldn’t catch but rhymed with «witch».
“Sorry girl, I warned you heads would roll and I’m not leaving any survivors if that’s what it takes.”
Scarlett put her hands up as a sign of surrender. “I respect it, you’re a bitch but I respect it.”
So that was the word she used.
Lemon would arrive at any minute now.
Her father was picking her up from the airport, they would have lunch at some fancy restaurant in the city center and then he’d drop Lemon at Priyanka’s house until sunset –that was when she had to leave again to have dinner with her relatives.
Priyanka kept moving her right leg, restless while sitting on the couch, eyes nailed on the window.
“Priyanka, take the trash out, it’s your turn.” Her mother told her casually as she directed upstairs.
“Mom!” She complained. “I’m doing important things.”
“You’re sitting on the couch.”
“My point exactly.”
Her mom gave her the glare. “Trash. Out. Now.”
She grumbled but did as asked.
Priyanka put on an extra thick coat over her jeans and knitted orange sweater, adjusted her wool socks and boots, and adventured to the exterior world of the Canadian winter wonderland. She only had to walk a few steps but she could feel her body freezing with the icy breeze. The snow was blinding white and she could hear the whistle of the wind blowing and the sound of her own teeth chattering.
She didn’t even hear the sound of the car stopping right at the entrance of her house nor the door closing or the steps.
She barely had time to turn around when an identified running person hit her like an asteroid. Lemon was small but she still got the strength to tackle Priyanka down with a hug. She didn’t even notice whether the snow was cold or not.
“Hey!” She was still down on the ground and needed to turn around once Lemon moved. “You’re here…”
The vision was dazzling. Lemon’s face, her eyes, her smile from ear to ear with full teeth showing, her blonde hair falling like a cascade over her rosy cheeks. It was as if she had been taken from an Andersen fairytale or a Tchaikovsky composition, ice queens and fairies fluttered around Priyanka’s head.
“I’m here! Can you believe it?”
She was still pretty much straddled on Priyanka, making the brunette blush and hoping she could blame it on the weather. Finally, Lemon got to stand up and helped her friend to get on her feet again.
Lemon was irretrievably tiny but there was something different about her since the last time they had seen each other. She looked less like the little girl Priyanka remembered and more like a teen pop star of the magazines they used to read with her slightly curled lighter hair, pink glossy lips, longer lashes… She was wearing a yellow sweater and a white puffy jacket with matching fake fur around the neck, corduroy pants, and cream boots. Even her glasses were stylish now.
“Wait, are you taller?” She observed.
“No, you just shrunk in the washing machine.”
Lemon elbowed her and then turned to wave at her dad that was still in the car.
“He told me he saw you in the supermarket the other day and asked what does your mom feed you with so I could get some too.”
Priyanka laughed at loud. “He got you there.”
“Ha. Ha.”
“But enough with my height, let’s go inside, I think I got snow on my socks and I don’t want to catch a cold or wait until another short person attacks me.”
“Hey, you said enough with the height.”
“No, no. I clearly said mine, not yours.”
Lemon rolled her eyes and there it was the old Lemon she knew so well, the exact dose just a little less sugary and a bit sour.
They went to Priyanka’s room, she shared it with her middle sister but she was currently busy practicing at music school with her cello for her end of the year concert, there were a few trophies, certificates, and distinctions on her side of the room meanwhile Priyanka’s was a collage of pictures with the girls, an album cover Avril Lavigne, one large poster she got from the local cinema when Spice World was brought back for a special feature and she forced her friends to watch it for the millionth time, some random doodles she did in class and of course, photos and postcards Lemon had sent to her.
The blonde smiled when she spotted a picture of them from their first day of primary school, their backpacks were bigger than them.
They removed the heavy coats, Priyanka changed her wet socks for new ones and a pair of slippers. Lemon was prying into the mess that was her desk, her fingers roaming through her school books, comic books, magazines, and scattered papers as if she tried to figure out if she still knew the owner of that space in the way she used to.
They sat on Priyanka’s bed on the nothing-like-Priyanka flowery blanket one of her aunts got her for a birthday. Priyanka’s mom dropped by to say hi and left a tray with two smoky cups of tea.
“I love your mom, she read my mind.” Lemon said, wrapping her hands around the warm porcelain.
“She’s being nice only because you’re around.” Priyanka took a sip of her tea. “I wonder if it’s a good time to tell her that I broke one of her flowerpots when I was practicing with the skateboard.”
“You’re the worst.” Lemon giggled.
“Certified. Three years in a row.”
The blonde shook her head. “Does she still make that incredible curry with potatoes?”
“Yeah, once in a while.”
“Oh my God… I tell you I’ve dreamt about it. You know I love Christina to dead but she can’t cook at all.”
Lemon, at some point after the divorce, had stopped addressing her mother as “mom” and now she called her by her first name.
“Do you remember she always made dinner with dry spaghetti and can sauce?”
“You laugh all you want but that’s my comfort food till this day.” Priyanka defended her.
“She doesn’t even cook it anymore, now we buy it all pre-cooked or already cooked. She might even forget how to boil water. Anyway, we’ve tried a thousand restaurants but I swear to you, Pri, no one can cook like your mom.”
“Well, I’m glad you’ve missed one of us.”
Lemon threw a pillow at her face.
“Of course I’ve missed you, dumbass.”
They did each other’s nails, Priyanka ended up with a light blue shade Lemon had brought for her and it was allegedly the same color as Tiffany’s, and the blonde insisted she had to draw a white ribbon to make it look like the jewel’s teeny tiny boxes.
From there, Priyanka could see everything. Lemon frowning, concentrated on her task, the way she batted her lashes, her pretty eyes, the little freckles she had over her nose, the shape of her cupid bow turned into an unintentional pout… her lips.
Priyanka gulped and then Lemon caught her staring.
“What is it?” She looked for some hint in Priyanka’s face. “Do I have something on my face?”
“No… I’m just making sure you don’t fuck up the design.”
Lemon rolled her eyes. “Don’t be silly. I’m almost done.”
While Priyanka’s nails got dried, they talked about school, classes they liked and disliked, teachers that they loathed or loved, then about their plans after turning sixteen, Priyanka told her about the driving lessons and Lemon told her she wanted to dress up as Cher Horowitz –of course- for her birthday and by the time Priyanka started with Lemon’s nails, she was reviving her dance audition.
“I tell you, Pri, there was a moment I doubt I’d got in. It was a flash but I felt it in my stomach I thought I was going to puke and mess everything up.”
“Hey, but you didn’t. I’m sure you nailed it.”
The blonde sighed. “Still, New York is like… everything’s so fast and everyone’s competitive to the point where you can’t get distracted or someone else will go after what you have. It’s nice to be here for a change, this is the only place I can really relax. It sucks that I can only stay for a week and five of those seven days I have to visit my dad’s relatives out of town.” She met Priyanka’s eyes. “I wish I could get to spend more time with you, you know?”
Priyanka’s heart skipped a beat. At that moment what she suspected but didn’t dare to say at loud became a reality, all those corny songs from the 90’s suddenly made sense, all the movies Hollywood had sold labeled as «romance» acquired a new meaning and she finally understood what «to have butterflies in one’s stomach» really felt like.
She liked Lemon. She liked her best friend…. And she liked her a lot.
That was the reason she hadn’t been able to tell her about what happened earlier that year at the party because it wasn’t just that she wanted to kiss a girl instead of a guy, she wanted to kiss one particular girl and she was right in front of her at that very moment.
They never warned her about it, they never told her that she would live normally until the day she’d realize she could harbor such feeling inside, that one day she’d just… know.
She almost dropped the nail polish bottle over the blanket.
“Oh, careful.” Lemon grabbed it just in time. She looked at her friend with concern in her eyes. “Pri, are you okay? You look… pale.”
“What? Ah, yeah… it’s nothing. I’m recovering from a cold I caught, that’s it…” She shook her head and took a breath of air. “I’m sorry, you were saying…”
“About the dance academy,” Lemon resumed her story. “the girls think I can make it through the next three years, and then I can major in dancing, I might even get a scholarship if I do outstandingly well.”
There was something, a little detail there that wasn’t… right.
“I hope you can visit me soon, you gotta meet the girls; you’re going to love them. Rosé and Jan are also Geminis, I guess that’s why I get along with them so well. Luckily, Jan would be my roommate if she gets her scholarship as well and…”
“Roommate?” Priyanka asked.
“Yeah… for college? We’re thinking about moving in together because rents are expensive even for the smallest studio apartment advertised. It’s a nightmare.”
“But wait… what happened with the plan? Our plan?”
Lemon opened her mouth to reply and then shut it.
“You forgot about it…”
“No! You know I didn’t… but… my options are wider now, I have to think forward and… did you seriously think-?”
“Yes. I did.” Priyanka didn’t even let her finish speaking.
Her soul had been just crushed.
“Pri, that’s not what I mean. We made that promise when we were ten, things have… changed since then.”
“Maybe they have changed for you but I’m still stuck here, I’m still counting on our plans… our promises. I’m still counting on you. The only thing that has changed is you and your pompous New Yorker glamorous lifestyle.”
“Oh, so it was so easy for me, right? It’s not like I had to attend a school where I didn’t know anyone, being the new girl and sitting alone during lunchtime for months while going through my parents’ divorce… I hated it the first months, Priyanka, I really did and I swear that talking to you on the phone and dancing were the only things that kept me alive…” Her voice cracked. “It wasn’t until I met my friends that I felt like I could do it… that it wasn’t completely waste of time and that I wasn’t a totally useless person.”
“Lemon… you never said-”
There was a single sparkly tear falling down her cheek.
“Well, I hope you’re happy now. There you have it, my life isn’t a glamorous as you thought, is it?”
“It’s because that’s what you’ve told me! Maybe if you didn’t sugarcoat things I could’ve helped you…”
“And do what? And then what? You’d get tired of me with all those problems and we’d eventually drift apart. I’d become a burden for you.”
“What? Where did you get that from? Let me be your friend, that’s what friends do… they help each other during the rough times too, they tell each other things.”
“Oh, and you surely have told me everything that’s being going on here.”
Priyanka remained silent.
“I still talk with some people from school here and there… why didn’t you tell me about what happened at that party?”
“Lemon, that’s completely different…”
“Is it? Because from my perspective, it looks like we’re hiding things from each other now.”
“And breaking promises as well for what it seems.”
Lemon looked at her, she seemed hurt and it broke Priyanka’s heart to see her like that.
She wanted to reach her and hold her hand, hug her and tell her that everything was alright but at the same time, she was angry. She couldn’t have it both ways. It wasn’t fair.
Priyanka’s mother called them from downstairs; Lemon’s father was there to pick her up.
“I better go.” She grabbed her coat. “I’ll be back in five days if you want… whatever.”
She was gone before Priyanka could say something and frankly, she felt that if she opened her mouth it was going to get worse. It wasn’t until the girl left the house and she heard the car getting lost in the distance that she collapsed on her bed and started crying on the closest pillow she had.
Five days after, it was a New Year already but little had changed since they last met.
Lemon visited Priyanka’s house only to discover she wasn’t there.
“Could you please tell her I came to say goodbye?” She bit her inner cheek to contain a sob.
She had a flight to take back to New York.
Priyanka had taken the family’s car without permission and she had driven for a few hours, making sure there was no chance of their paths crossing. It was petty; she knew she was being childish avoiding her rather than talk things through and she was going to regret it and hate herself later, damn, she was going to get grounded for months but who cared? At that moment, the only thing that was on her mind was that she couldn’t see Lemon.
Not like that.
She did her wrong but she was partly right. Priyanka wasn’t being honest with her and she couldn’t tell her all the truth to restore their friendship.
She couldn’t tell her that she was gay and that she was in love with her because it would change it all.
It would destroy their friendship entirely.
Lemon would never reciprocate those stupid feelings of her.
Maybe if she put enough distance between them, those feelings would simply fade, go away, and right now, New York sounded distant enough.
If it was on her to do the hardest part for the sake of all the years they’ve been together, then she was going to do whatever it’d take.
Tears scorched her eyes.
At the age of fifteen, Priyanka loved her best friend Lemon but she also hated her.
Part 4
A quiet knock at her door broke Cathy out of her reading. She let out a sigh and put her book down. Cathy hated it when she had to stop abruptly in the middle of a chapter.
“Who is it?” Cathy called out as she slid off her bed and walked to the door.
“It’s Anne. Dinner’s ready! Jane made chicken nuggets!” Anne’s excited voice made Cathy hesitate. Her hand stopped on the doorknob and she took a deep breath before forcing a fake smile onto her face.
Cathy slowly opened the door and was met with the sight of Anne who immediately smiled brightly at her. Cathy felt her heart flutter in her chest at the sight as her own fake smile turned into a small genuine one. Cathy’s smile dropped however when she remembered that Anne was pining after someone else.
“Okay. I’ll be right down,” Cathy responded as her gaze fell to the floor. Anne gave her a confused look before clearing her throat.
“Yeah! Okay,” Anne rambled nervously. “I’ll see you downstairs then.” Anne hesitated for a moment before making her way back down to the kitchen.
Cathy watched Anne walk away before turning back into her room with groan. Cathy didn’t mean to act weird around Anne but it was impossible to see her and not think of how desperately Cathy wanted her. And how unattainable she was.
Cathy quickly crossed the room to her bed and grabbed her book. She slipped one of her stray bookmarks into the pages and closed it before placing it on her nightstand.
“Don’t be weird, Cathy,” she whispered to herself as she left her room and walked down the stairs to the kitchen. “Please, don’t be weird.”
Cathy entered the kitchen and sat down in her seat as quietly as possible, hoping not to draw attention to herself. She picked up her fork and poked at the chicken nuggets on her plate, not really in the mood to eat but not wanting to raise suspicion if she didn’t. She slowly began eating as she listened to the other queens’ conversation.
“Hey Kitty, can you pass the mustard?” Cleves asked, gesturing to the yellow bottle by her side.
“That’s disgusting,” Kitty commented as she passed Cleves the requested item. “I hate mustard.”
“Oh really?” Cleves asked, giving Kitty a mischievous smile. Before Kitty could reply, Cleves uncapped the mustard bottle and squirted an unnecessary amount of the yellow liquid in the middle of Kitty’s plate, dangerously close to the rest of her nuggets.
“NO!! ANNA! WHY??” Kitty complained and gave a disgusted look at her plate. “Now I can’t finish my food!”
“That’s for trying to steal the maple syrup from me this morning,” Cleves replied with a satisfied smile. “And you’ll be fine, Kitty! I didn’t get it on your food, which I definitely could have done. You’re welcome for that.”
“Stop bullying my cousin, Cleves,” Anne spoke up. “Unless you wanna catch these hands!” Anne squared up from her place across from Cleves before doubling over in pain. “Ow! That’s not fair! You kicked me!”
Aragon chuckled. “I think that’s pretty fair game, Anne. You asked if Cleves wanted to fight and she retaliated appropriately.”
  “Wow, Catherine! I am so hurt,” Anne exclaimed dramatically, bringing her hand to her chest in a demonstration of faux pain. “At least Cathy’s on my side. Right, Cathy?”
Anne turned to look at Cathy who was now frozen with panic at the mention of her name. Cathy looked up from her plate and mumbled out a few words. “Uhm, yeah. Sure.”
Cathy looked down at her plate once more, missing the concerned looks the queens exchanged at her sudden change in demeanor.
Jane spoke up to break the uncomfortable silence that was growing. “I know what we should do! After dinner, we should have a movie night!”
The other queens expressed approval, except for Cathy. “You all can go ahead. I’ll join you another time,” Cathy responded, not too keen on spending the rest of her night in any other way than sulking in her room while reading.
“C’mon, Cathy! Join us!” Cleves pleaded before an idea struck her. “We can put on one of those crime documentaries you like so much.”
Though the thought was appealing, Cathy shook her head. “Maybe another time.”
“Or we can have a game night! Though I refuse to play Mafia again. We all get way too aggressive during that,” Aragon chimed in, hoping that Cathy would agree to her request.
“Yeah! We can play Scrabble!” Anne piped up excitedly before bumping shoulders with Cathy. “You love Scrabble!”
Cathy smiled weakly but still refused. “I think I’ll pass. But you all can do something without me. It’s fine, really.”
“No it’s not! It won’t be the same without you, Cathy!” Anne blurted out before turning beet red at her outburst.
Cathy opened her mouth to respond but was cut off by Kitty’s voice. “A sleepover! Let’s have a sleepover!” Cathy looked over to Kitty and was met with her pleading eyes. “Please, Cathy?”
Cathy sighed quietly. She already felt guilty for denying the other queens’ offers so Kitty’s final plea was enough for her to finally acquiesce. “Alright. Fine. I just want to finish the chapter I was reading in my book before I join. I stopped halfway through it before coming down for dinner.”
The queens let out a collective sigh of relief at Cathy’s response. “No problem, love,” Jane commented and smiled gently at Cathy.
“Yay! I’m going to bring my fluffy blanket from my room,” Kitty exclaimed excitedly, moving her chair back in an attempt to retrieve said item.
“Not so fast, Kitty! You still have to finish your dinner,” Aragon said.
“But there’s mustard on it!” Kitty complained, slowly scooting back to the table.
The rest of the queens’ dinner was quiet as they quickly finished their food in anticipation for their impromptu sleepover. Cathy, however, was slowly growing to dread what was to come. She knew that her friends were just trying to cheer her up but she would have much preferred to be alone in her room with her thoughts instead.
So, instead of reading the rest of her chapter like she said she would, Cathy spent those minutes in her bedroom in complete panic mode. Could she somehow find a way to get out of this? Would they let her escape if she just said she was sick? Why did Anne smile at her like that when she opened the door? Didn’t she have feelings for someone else? Was Cathy being selfish for enjoying her attention while it lasted?
Of course, her thoughts always led back to Anne Boleyn and her beautiful smile. Cathy shook the thought out of her head as she quickly changed into her pajamas. She would have to join the other queens downstairs soon or they would start to worry about her again.
Cathy moved in front of her mirror and took a deep breath. It was just a sleepover, with her friends. There was nothing to be anxious about. Cathy breathed out slowly and felt much more calm. The queens cared about her; that’s why they were having a sleepover in the first place.
With that thought in her mind, Cathy left her bedroom and made her way down the stairs. As she entered the living room, she saw the queens sitting on the floor and laughing as Cleves told them one of her stories.
“- and that’s how I catfished a supermodel,” Cleves finished as the queens erupted into laughter. As Cathy got closer, she noticed that Jane had tears streaming down her face and was wheeze-laughing at the story.
“What’s so funny?” Cathy spoke up with a small smile. The queens turned to look at her with bright smiles.
“You made it!” Kitty piped up with a squeal from where she was snuggled up in her neon pink fluffy blanket.
Anne scooted to her right to make enough space for Cathy to sit next to her. Cathy noticed and slowly made her way to sit beside Anne. After she had made herself comfortable, Anne turned to Cathy and filled her in on the story she had missed. “So, apparently Cleves likes to catfish people on Tinder. She even got the attention of some supermodel and she broke their heart. Which is kind of mean but it’s super funny when she reads the text messages out loud.”
“In my defense, I ghost them after I get bored,” Cleves said with a laugh.
“That’s worse, Anna!” Kitty yelped and lightly smacked Cleves on the arm.
“Weirdly enough, those text messages remind me of this guy who unsuccessfully tried to win my heart,” Aragon commented.
“What?!” Cathy exclaimed. “What happened?”
“Yes! Tell us what happened, Catherine!” Anne chimed in.
“So, I was minding my business and reading the Bible in a park like I usually do on Sundays,” Aragon began. “I was sitting on a bench when this guy suddenly sat down next to me and handed me a letter. I reluctantly took it and began to read it. The words sounded really familiar until I realized that he had just written down chapter 4 of Song of Solomon. At the end of the letter, he had written his number with a little heart. As if I would call him after he plagiarized the Bible in an attempt to woo me. Needless to say, I stopped going to that park after that.”
By time Aragon finished her story, all of the queens were laughing together. Cathy realized how nice it was to have a good laugh with her friends. This was a much better way to spend her night than sulking in her room about her own misfortune.
“For the record, I totally would have called him,” Anne jested earning more laughter from the queens. “Do you still have the letter?”
“Sadly, I threw it away. Otherwise, I would give you his number so you could call him,” Aragon said. “Maybe you two would hit it off.”
“I doubt it. I have my eyes on someone else anyway,” Anne responded, sneaking a quick glance at Cathy that went completely unnoticed by her. The other queens all shared knowing looks while Cathy’s gaze dropped to the floor in disappointment. Cathy’s heart sank when she heard those words come out of Anne’s mouth. She didn’t want to be reminded of Anne’s feelings for the mystery girl, especially not when she was finally beginning to feel better after what had happened earlier.
Cathy was grateful when the other queens began telling more stories. Slowly, Cathy felt the sinking feeling in her chest change into an elated bubble of joy. She laughed so much at their ridiculous anecdotes, growing even more grateful for her friends. The queens had noticed how upset she was and decided to cheer her up in whatever way they could. It meant a lot to Cathy knowing that she had such amazing people in her life that she could always depend on.
Cathy looked around at each of the queens before her eyes landed on Anne Boleyn. She was slightly caught off guard when she noticed that Anne was already looking at her. When their eyes met, Anne tilted her head slightly to the side and smiled at Cathy. In turn, Cathy smiled back and stared into those gorgeous emerald orbs, letting herself get lost in their depths.
Anne might have her eyes on someone else but right now she’s looking at me, Cathy thought to herself. And that’s all that matters.
“Ooh! Let’s play truth or dare!” Kitty exclaimed, breaking Anne and Cathy out of their moment. The queens agreed and started the game. They all had a great time watching each other answer embarrassing questions and completing funny dares.
After Cleves had successfully completed Jane’s dare of prank calling one of their neighbors, she turned to Cathy with a smirk on her face that made Cathy nervous.
“Cathy, truth or dare?” Cleves asked.
“Truth,” Cathy answered simply, knowing better than to ask for a dare from Cleves.
Cleves smirked even wider as she began her question. “What do you write about in your journal?”
Cathy’s face paled at the question, knowing she couldn’t give an honest answer without professing her feelings for Anne. “I’m chickening out,” Cathy said with an embarrassed smile on her face.
“Laaaaame,” Cleves taunted.
“Oh, c’mon Cathy! It can’t be that bad!” Kitty added on. “Tell us!”
“No, absolutely not. There’s a reason it’s a private journal and not a public journal,” Cathy responded. “I’m officially chickening out of that truth.”
“Wow, I’m so disappointed,” Anne said, faking disapproval. “As someone who has never chickened out, it breaks my heart to see you turn to the dark side, Cathy.”
“Oh hush,” Cathy responded and playfully nudged Anne’s shoulder with her own. “It’s my turn then.” Cathy looked around to see who she should ask next. A brief thought of asking Anne who she had feelings for crossed her mind before she quickly dismissed it. Cathy didn’t know if she wanted to know the answer. She would rather just pretend that nothing was going on and everything was fine, just for tonight.
Instead, Cathy turned her eyes to Kitty. “Okay, Kitty. Truth or dare?”
Kitty’s eyes lit up as she responded. “Dare!”
Cathy thought for a moment before she came up with the perfect dare for the younger girl. “I dare you to eat a whole tablespoon of mustard.” A wicked grin stretched across Cathy’s face when she saw Kitty nearly burst into tears at the dare.
“NO! Cathy please!! Anything but mustard!” Kitty cried out.
“Rules are rules, Kitty,” Aragon commented.
“Unless you wanna chicken out,” Jane chimed in.
Kitty hesitated, carefully pondering her options. Cleves began making chicken sounds as Kitty delayed her response.
“Kitty, don’t chicken out on me! I can’t lose you too!” Anne joked. Kitty gave her cousin a desperate look which Anne responded to by beginning to chant, “Do it! Do it! Do it!”
The queens joined in until five voices were chanting for Kitty to complete the dare. Finally, Kitty caved and said, “Okay! Fine! I’ll eat the stupid mustard!”
The queens followed Kitty into the kitchen and watched her as she squeezed the mustard into a spoon. A look of utter disgust passed over Kitty’s face as she brought the spoon to her lips. Slowly, the queens watched as she quickly put the spoon in her mouth and swallowed. Kitty gagged at the taste but gratefully took the glass of water that Anne was handing to her.
The queens cheered as Kitty downed the glass of water in a vain attempt to get the taste of mustard off her tongue. Kitty grimaced and placed the spoon and cup in the sink. Kitty looked at Cathy and shook her head. “I hope you’re happy. That was the worst thing I’ve ever done in my life.”
Cathy giggled. “I’m sorry, Kitty!”
“Don’t apologize. I know you don’t mean it,” Kitty muttered as the queens made their way back to their spots in the living room.
“It’s my turn now,” Kitty said and looked around at all the queens before her eyes landed on Anne. Cathy noticed the two cousins share a glance which caused a petrified look to pass over Anne’s face. Anne shook her head slightly but Kitty had already made up her mind. “Anne, truth or dare?”
Anne hesitated for a moment before responding. “Dare.”
Kitty glared at Anne momentarily before a satisfied smile passed over her face. “I dare you to kiss Cathy.”
Cathy’s mouth dropped in shock, mirroring the girl next to her. Had she heard that right? Did Kitty really just say that? Cathy was left at a loss for words. A storm of emotions and thoughts swirled in her mind about what Kitty had just said.
Cleves whooped loudly at Kitty’s dare and pointed to Anne, who was shifting uncomfortably in her spot. “You’re not going to chicken out of this, or are you Anne?” Cleves taunted.
Much to Cathy’s surprise, Anne said nothing. She didn’t jump to defend her honor of never chickening out how she usually did. Cathy looked at her and saw Anne turn to her with soft eyes and a shy smile.
“We don’t have to do this, if you don’t want to,” Anne whispered to Cathy, before dropping her gaze to the floor. “I can chicken out if you want.”
“Anne Boleyn! You never chicken out!” Cathy responded incredulously as Anne looked up to meet her eyes once more. “I won’t get in the way of that. I mean, it’s just a kiss.”
Just a kiss I dream about every night, Cathy thought to herself. She subconsciously bit her lip. Cathy was secretly looking forward to the kiss. She had wanted to kiss Anne for so long now that it almost didn’t feel real that it was actually about to happen.
“Yeah, just a kiss,” Anne said as she dropped her gaze momentarily from Cathy. A sad look passed over Anne’s face, though Cathy didn’t understand why. Anne looked back up with a tender look on her face that sent butterflies stirring in Cathy’s stomach.
Anne brought her hand up to cup Cathy’s cheek gently, slowly caressing her cheekbone with her thumb. Cathy’s breath caught in her throat and she was suddenly hyper aware of everything around her. The feeling of Anne’s hand on her cheek, the soft look in those emerald green eyes, and the small smile on Anne’s face brought back all the love that Cathy had for the girl in front of her. The girl she was finally about to kiss.
Cathy’s gaze dropped to Anne’s lips, desperate to finally have them on her own. Cathy watched as Anne’s smile morphed until her mouth was slightly parted. She watched Anne quickly lick her lips nervously before feeling Anne pull her in slowly.
Anne leaned forward and connected their lips in a gentle, feathersoft kiss. Cathy felt her insides melt at the touch as the stirring of butterflies intensified. A million thoughts were running through her mind until it suddenly blanked when she felt Anne slowly begin to move her lips. Cathy reciprocated at the same pace, bringing her hand up to Anne’s cheek to feel more contact with the girl she loved.
They quickened their pace gradually, matching each other’s movements perfectly. Anne pulled Cathy closer to her, slowly tracing her bottom lip with her tongue. Cathy had to stifle a moan at the feeling which sent Cathy’s mind into overdrive. Cathy abruptly pulled away from Anne as very loud alarms blared in her mind, signalling that something was very wrong.
Cathy’s mind was swirling with an endless hurricane of thoughts, threatening to drown her in their whirlpool. She suddenly felt out of control of herself and frantically looked around the room for a way out.
“Cathy, what’s wrong?” Anne’s concerned voice brought Cathy back to reality for a moment.
“No- nothing,” Cathy stammered, unable to look Anne in the eye. “I’m actually feeling pretty tired so I think I’m going to head to bed early.” Cathy quickly got up from her spot, not meeting any of the worried looks of the queens.
“Cathy, wait!” Anne exclaimed desperately, scrambling to her feet as well.
“Goodnight,” Cathy said quickly before rushing out of the room, leaving behind a very confused Anne with a brokenhearted expression on her face.
Cathy ran up the stairs and into her room, shutting the door quickly before any of the queens decided to follow her. She collapsed against it as she began hyperventilating. What had she done? Why had Cathy agreed to that stupid dare? Now, she was worse off than she had ever been before.
Now, she not only had to deal with Anne’s feelings for someone else but also the fact that they had shared a kiss that meant nothing to Anne. But, it meant everything Cathy. The kiss had been magical, everything she had been dreaming about and more. But it still plagued Cathy to know that Anne felt nothing when she kissed her. To Anne, it was some silly dare that she had only done to keep her pride intact.
That thought mocked Cathy. Anne probably felt guilty about kissing someone else while she was still pining after her mystery girl. The girl Anne actually cared about. The girl Cathy craved to be. All she wanted was for Anne to love her in return. Was that too much to ask?
Cathy huffed and tried to control her breathing. She took slow breaths until the feeling that she was suffocating subsided. She pushed away from her door and crossed the room to her desk, pulling out her journal in a rush. She quickly turned on her desk lamp and flipped to a free page before choking back a sob when she saw her bookmark. Those pictures mocked her, making her feel even more foolish for ever hoping that Anne would kiss her. Now that she had, it had only made everything worse.
Cathy threw the bookmark on the floor angrily and grabbed her pen. Cathy wiped at the tears she hadn’t even realized were streaming down her face. She had to get her feelings out before they consumed her. She had to write it out before she drowned in her own sorrows.
Love is an ocean of torment and pain, black waters that rise and rage against all who dare to swim in its shallows. One moment I was wading in a crystal bay and enjoying the gentle waves crashing against my skin and in the next I was thrashing to get to the surface as vicious currents pulled me deeper, drowning me in my own despair. I understand why Aphrodite was born from the foam of such a volatile entity. Love changes like the tides of the sea, rising and falling in accordance to the hope that foolish lovers cling to as if for dear life.
I was foolish enough to hope for love. I bartered my heart for a kiss, only to find that lipstick marks are a mockery of what I wanted. I didn’t want a kiss. I wanted Anne Boleyn! I wanted all of her, every single part of her. I wanted her lips, I wanted her eyes, I wanted her smile, I wanted her affection, I wanted her desire. I wanted her to feel what I felt when she kissed me.
When her lips touched mine, I felt my heart come alive in my chest. It was as if it had been dormant my whole life and was suddenly awakened by Anne’s gentle touch. I saw the birth of the sun, a brilliant light that drowns out all darkness in the galaxy. I smelled fields of lemongrass and groves filled with vanilla flowers and overgrown honeysuckle bushes, the scent I always imagine breathing in right before I fall asleep. I heard the sound of windchimes softly ringing out a lullaby and the quiet whispers of the wind, telling me all the secrets of the earth as they billowed past my ear. And I finally tasted Anne on my lips. She tasted of everything good I could ever describe and more. She tasted like the first bite of my chocolate birthday cake from last year but better. She tasted like the warm coffee I drink to keep me awake while I read but stronger. She tasted like the candy we ate together after trick-or-treating last Halloween but sweeter.
But Anne felt none of that. She didn’t see, smell, or hear what I did. She didn’t taste anything when she kissed me. My heart is cleaved in two when I think of how differently we experienced that kiss. We were the closest we had ever been when we kissed yet I have never felt more far away from Anne. While I was thinking about my endless love for her, Anne was concerned with her own pride. While my mind was reeling with the magic of Anne’s lips on mine, her mind was completely blank.
I lament ever pleading for her kiss! It has brought me so much despair because now I realize that everything I want and everything I am will never be enough for Anne. My most precious memories are nothing but passing thoughts to her. The moments that keep me awake at night, those same moments I journal about, are forgotten by Anne when she wakes up the next morning. I am overrun by my feelings for her, feelings that she has no need or desire for.
I can’t go on like this! I simply won’t. From now on, I will keep my feelings locked away in my heart and out of sight from prying eyes. I will consign my feelings to admiring Anne from a distance. I will harbor my love in a prison, not free to run rampant as I let it for so long. I will keep my distance so I can have a chance to heal my broken heart. Maybe then I can be the friend Anne deserves, the friend she needs me to be. At least I can find my peace in that role, even if I can’t have what I truly desire. But, I’m willing to make these sacrifices because Anne… my beloved Anne… means everything to me.
Cathy scribbled her name out at the bottom of the page and stopped writing as her tears returned with a vengeance. She put her pen down and rested her face in her hands as she quietly sobbed into them. Cathy stayed like that for a few minutes until a wave of exhaustion washed over her. She reached for the tissue box that she had gotten from Jane and hastily wiped the tears from her face.
Cathy sighed heavily before taking a few deep breaths to calm herself down. She slowly turned in her chair to find where her bookmark had landed. Cathy found it by her foot and sighed gratefully that it was face down. She picked it up and placed it back in her journal, keeping it face down the entire time. Cathy closed the journal and returned it to its place in her desk drawer. She reached over to her lamp and flipped the switch, plunging her back into darkness.
Cathy closed her eyes tiredly for a moment before lumbering her way to her bed. She crawled under her covers and tried to fall asleep, though her memories of the day kept her awake as they replayed in her head. Eventually, Cathy drifted into a restless sleep, plagued with nightmares of those green eyes and that devilish smirk.
okay you seem really nice lol, but idk if you take random prompts and its fine if you don't but i've really been feeling a "they get tied together and derek is in the back with stiles pressed against him omg-" fic ever since i saw a fan art like that for one of my other otp's,, so like if you could??? thatd be great
Oh heck yeah, I’m always down for a random prompt! And oh my gosh, this one is absolutely fantastic.
- -
Stiles thought this sounded like the beginning of a bad joke.
Two people get tied together back to back— an Alpha werewolf and the local token human— and one tries to get loose and accidentally ends up in a compromising position. What happens then? Absolutely nothing good for the innocent teenager that said Alpha werewolf is currently pressed up against.
Stiles hated everything sometimes.
It started when Stiles had been used as bait for the newest threat of Beacon Hills. He thought hunters were a little tiring, especially because they’d just come off of a bloodthirsty witch and that had been the ride of a lifetime. So when Jackson offered him up to be the hook, line, and sinker, he didn’t even try to argue. Their pack could handle a few hunters, after all.
Stiles had been wrong before.
He decided later, with a bloody nose and black eye as he lied tied up on the cold floor, that he hated everything. Hunters, werewolves, all the jazz. Stiles just wanted a nap and then maybe some curly fries.
After this, someone was buying him curly fries.
Stiles tried not to wince as he heard the sound of approaching footsteps, trying to draw into himself as much as he could. But the hands bound behind his back didn’t help. Nor did that fact that his entire body screamed in pain every time he dared to move an inch.
The hunter knelt down in front of him and Stiles got an eyeful of brown teeth.
“We’ll ask you one more time, boy. Where is the Hale-McCall pack?”
“Dude,” Stiles said, trying to roll away. “Breath freshener, whitening toothpaste, or something. Please invest.”
Stiles’s words were rewarded with a kick to the ribs, which he really should have expected. That didn’t change the fact that his breaths leaped from his lungs, though, or how he curled in on himself even more, choking out a small cry of pain.
Brown-teeth sneered down at him. “Wanna try that again?”
“I thought you were only asking me one more time.”
Stiles got another kick, harder this time. He tried to bite back his noise of pain but it came out anyway, more of a whine than a cry through gritted teeth. Laughter rolled around the room and Stiles gasped welty into the floor, tasting blood in his mouth.
“Come on boy,” the hunter said, crouching down again. “Is the pain really worth protecting a bunch of mutts? Tell us where we can find the Hale-McCall pack and we’ll let you go.”
“Minty gum works too,” Stiles said in a gasp. “With the stench at least, if you’re too lazy to brush.”
“Mouthy little shit—”
Before the hunter could strike him again, a loud roar filled the air. Stiles’s heart leaped and he tried to look up, only to groan and curl back in on himself. His everything hurt and honestly, he was surprised he was still conscious right now.
He heard… a growl. A single growl. Nothing else, no resounding howls or thankful sounds of rescue. Stiles blinked a few times as a gunshot filled the air followed by the sound of cheers.
Stiles’s heart plummeted. In five seconds, someone was being tossed next to him and he didn’t have to look long to realize who it was.
Stiles swallowed the taste of blood in his mouth. Derek laid next to him, a glowing bullet in his shoulder while his chest rose and fell in pants. Slowly, despite himself, Stiles raised a brow.
“Hey there, Sourwolf. You come to save me?”
“Shut up, Stiles.”
“I’m feeling very good about this entire situation right now. Thanks a ton.”
“Stiles.”
There was a footstep right behind Stiles’s head. He winced and cursed as brown-teeth leaned down again, glancing between them. Derek snarled weakly and Stiles only rolled his eyes.
“Well,” the man said. “The Hale Alpha and the pack human?”
“I never get a cool title,” Stiles grumbled. Derek gave him a red-eyed look, which Stiles pointedly ignored. He was aware of a hand on his arm, yanking him up, and his entire body screamed in pain at the sudden movement.
He didn’t mean to make a noise, but it just slipped out. Derek snarled again and the man laughed, dragging Stiles to his feet. But he didn’t make it all the way before his world was dipping in and out of darkness. Stiles tried to stay conscious— he really did.
But it was a losing battle from the start.
By the time Derek was trying to rise to his feet, only to get kicked back down again, Stiles had given into the black. He heard the man call his name, was aware of the floor coming again, too fast this time. And then… nothing.
Nothing.
Stiles thought that right now, he liked it better that way.
-
So where was he? Oh yeah, the beginning of a bad joke.
Stiles woke up with his hands bound behind his back. The first thing he thought was that his head pounded. The second was more along the lines of how hot he was— and not just to the eyes. Stiles felt like he was being pressed against a space heater.
His third realization was that he basically was.
“Stiles,” Derek said, shifting carefully. “Are you awake?”
“No,” Stiles whined. “Or at least, I don’t want to be. Knock me back out again, please.”
The man sighed.
Glancing around, Stiles realized they were alone. He didn’t know if that was a good thing or not, attempting to shift in his bonds only to groan. The pain pounded through his head and rippled all the way down the rest of him, like a full body ache he couldn’t escape.
Until Derek caught his hand, that was. Then slowly, some of the pain ebbed away.
“Okay,” Stiles said tiredly. “What now?”
“Someone will find us.”
“Someone like Scott? Who occasionally gets lost trying to find his own shadow?”
“Someone like Lydia,” Derek said. “Or Boyd.”
“Yay for Lydia and Boyd.”
“Would you rather be stuck alone in this?”
Stiles thought about that for a moment. Derek growled at his silence and Stiles couldn’t help smirking a little, feeling much better now that the man was taking some of his pain. But then Derek pulled away and Stiles whined again.
“Hey, no, dude, put your hand back on mine. I hurt!”
“I have a bullet in my shoulder, Stiles.”
Oh yeah. That was a thing too.
“Well,” Stiles said, refusing to be cowed. “That’s usually what happens when you come bursting into a hunter’s safehouse alone. What the hell is even with that anyway? Why didn’t you bring the rest of the pack?”
“I didn’t think I’d need them.”
“You didn’t— oh my god, Derek, I hate your Alpha ego sometimes.”
Derek only huffed. Stiles really hated him.
“Fine, is there anything you can do? These are ropes, have you tried like, chewing your way out of them or something?”
He was pretty sure the man tried to shoot a glare over his shoulder. “Wolfsbane infused, Stiles.”
“Well, that’s just fantastic.”
“Your comments aren’t helping.”
“Should I start screaming for help instead? I mean, that might end up attracting the hunters, but I can scream pretty loud when I want to. The pack might hear if we’re lucky.”
“No, Stiles,” Derek said, sounding pained. Stiles sighed.
“Fine, but neither of us are dying here. Not you and your stupid shoulder wound or me and my stupid everywhere else wounds.”
Derek tensed against him. “Are they bad?”
“They?”
“Your injuries, Stiles.”
“Oh,” Stiles said, shifting a little bit. “Okay, no not really. Just a bruise or two, a black eye and a split lip. I think brown-teeth might have cracked a rib but—”
“Brown teeth?”
Stiles grinned, despite himself. “Am I wrong though?”
Derek huffed.
“Okay,” Stiles said. “What if one of us managed to wiggle out of the ropes. I mean, I could probably do it. I’m small and wiggly and—”
“And you have a cracked rib.”
“I should’ve known not to tell you about that.”
Derek sighed. Stiles squeaked in surprised as the man was suddenly moving, and then the ropes across his chest were twisting and moving along with Derek’s attempts to break free. In a matter of moments, Stiles realized the man was in a whole new position, but it was definitely not free.
“Derek,” he said, blinking at the opposite wall. “Please tell me you didn’t.”
The man didn’t answer. Stiles glanced to each side and nodded as he spotted the large legs straddling him. Because yeah, this was just his luck. And things couldn’t get any better.
“I swear to god,” he said, wishing Derek could see the venomous look currently on his face. “The next time you don’t let me do the wiggling because of a ‘cracked rib’, please remember that things like this happen.”
“Shut up, Stiles.”
“I’m just saying,” Stiles said. “This right now? This should count as a cruel and unusual punishment.”
“I could make it cruel and unusual.”
“Please don’t say things like that when certain parts of you are literally pressed against certain parts of me.”
“Stiles.”
“What, Sourwolf, are you going to tell me to shut up again? Because I’ll have you know I’ve had just about enough of that and you and— Derek.”
The man didn’t answer, but he’d gone rigid pressed up against Stiles’s back. Stiles closed his eyes for a long moment and took a deep breath, trying to calm his sudden rapidly pounding heart. It didn’t help much.
“Derek,” he said, voice cracking. “Stop that.”
“I’m not doing anything.”
“Some part of you is doing something.”
“Shut up, Stiles.”
“Why, is me talking a turn on? Oh my god, me talking is totally a turn on. Derek! Stop that!”
“I’m not doing anything,” the man snarled, breaths hot against his ear. And suddenly, Stiles’s heart was pounding for a whole new reason. This was so totally not fair.
“You are doing everything right now, asshole.”
“Then stop talking!”
“I always lived under the impression that my talking was a boner-killer, not the magic spell that brings one to life!”
Silence fell over the warehouse. Stiles’s face was red and hot and he forced himself not to shift, trying to relax against Derek’s chest instead. But then Derek made a small noise at the back of his throat and Stiles realized that wasn’t an option either.
“Okay,” he said softly. “How did I never know this was possible until we were literally sitting on death’s door?”
“I hate you.”
“Clearly, not all of you does.”
“Stiles, I swear to god—”
“Okay, okay,” Stiles said. “We don’t know how much longer we have until the hunters come back. Now, as terrified as I am that they come to kill us, I’m even more terrified of being caught in this position right now. So can we please try to figure out how to get out of these ropes?”
Derek didn’t answer for a moment. Then the man sighed. “I can’t break them, but maybe you can.”
“Maybe I can? How.”
“I don’t know, Stiles, use your teeth or something.”
“You want me to bend over,” Stiles said, his heart thudding against his chest even harder. “And attempt to chew through the ropes.”
Once more, Derek was silent. Stiles scoffed.
“I thought so.”
“So you’d rather we just wait here to die?”
“I’d rather we not be in the position at all, Sourwolf!”
“Oh, it’s that bad, is it?”
Stiles clenched his jaw and didn’t answer. He glared at the wall for a long moment before glancing down at the ropes circling his chest. He supposed he could try. After all, what dignity did he really have left?
“Okay,” he said quietly. “If I try this—”
“You don’t have to, Stiles.”
“I’d rather get out of here alive than dead, Sourwolf.”
Derek sighed, breaths warm on the back of Stiles’s neck. He still shivered, despite himself, and then tensed even more when he heard the man murmur a quiet “sorry”.
“Uh, dude? What for?”
“I don’t,” Derek said, and then cursed. “I don’t want to make you uncomfortable.”
“Oh,” Stiles said intelligently. He blinked a few times before it really sunk in. “Oh. I mean, dude, I’m a little hot right now. You radiate warmth like a space heater, you know that? And the ropes are rubbing a little uncomfortably across my chest—”
“Stiles.”
“Okay,” Stiles said quietly. “You’re not making me uncomfortable. I just… didn’t realize?”
“Realize what.”
“That clearly, dude, you’re all about this hot bod.”
Derek’s sigh was one-hundred percent pained. But Stiles grinned a little bit to himself, wishing he could meet the man’s gaze. He startled as Derek rested his chin on Stiles’s shoulder and the man’s lips brushed against the shell of his ear, making him shiver.
“Stiles,” Derek said softly. “Get us out of these ropes.”
“Oh my god,” Stiles squeaked. “Right away.”
Except, before he could even do anything, the door across the warehouse burst open. Stiles startled so hard, he spilled sideways. Faintly, he heard Derek shout his name, blinked as the world started to tip, and then they were both crashing hard against the floor, the impact making Stiles feeling like he’d cracked another two ribs or so.
“Oh,” Stiles said, voice cracking. “Ouch.”
“Dammit, Stiles.”
The sound of laughter filled the air as a couple pairs of footsteps approached. Stiles felt his face go hot and fixed his gaze on the floor, even as brown-teeth stood over him.
“Trying to go somewhere, boy?”
“No,” Stiles said. “Just, uh, hanging out. You know? Having a hell of a time right now.”
“You amuse me. I might kill you last.”
“... Is there any way I can dissuade you from killing me at all?”
The man chuckled and grabbed Stiles by the hair, starting to tilt his head upward. But suddenly there was a bang, a crash, and then a series of howls that struck the air.
Stiles had never felt so relieved.
Brown-teeth let his head fall back down and Stiles grunted in pain. But he’d take the stars flashing before his vision if it came with a rescue. Derek shifted against his back and Stiles felt warm breaths against his skin again.
He tensed as someone moved around the room toward them. Stiles snarled at the back of his throat as a shadow fell over them again but then Erica laughed and Stiles went silent.
He turned his head upward, blinking at the beta. She was smirking from ear to ear, eyes flicking from Stiles, to Derek, and then back.
“Well, it looks like you two got in a messy situation.”
“Erica,” Stiles groaned. “Just get us out.”
“Hm,” she said, glancing at the ropes. “That’s wolfsbane. Have you tried using your teeth?”
Derek growled, but the beta only smirked wider. Stiles had to remind himself that murder was illegal and he was the Sheriff’s son.
Still, relief crashed over him like no other when Allison came running across the room. Stiles had never been so happy to see another pack human in his entire life.
Allison glanced over them, shared an amused look with Erica, and then dropped down, slicing through the ropes. Stiles slumped forward, wincing a little as the extra weight was put onto his rib cage. In a moment, Scott was moving across the room toward him, but Stiles waved a hand through the air, gesturing toward Derek.
“He’s the one with a wolfsbane bullet embedded in his shoulder.”
“No,” Derek growled. “He’s got a cracked rib.”
“Two now, I think,” Stiles said in a groan. “But that won’t kill me, asshole. Stop trying to be heroic.”
“You stop—”
“Okay,” Boyd said, cutting in. “There are more of us than you. Derek, do you need Deaton?”
“I need a bullet. And Stiles needs a hospital.”
“Oh my god,” Stiles said. “I hate you so much sometimes.”
“Lie.”
“Shut up.”
“Um, alright,” Scott said. “We’re going to do one more sweep of the warehouse. You two… figure this out?”
Stiles gave his best friend a withering look but Scott only smiled apologetically and backed away. As the rest of the betas followed, Stiles turned the look toward Derek. But at the man’s sweeping gaze over him, with concern in his eyes, any and all irritation melted.
“So,” Stiles said. Derek rolled his eyes, shifting a little with a grunt.
“Shut up, Stiles.”
“What, are we just never going to talk about this again?”
“I don’t want to make you uncomfortable,” Derek mumbled. Stiles looked at him for a long moment before cursing everything. Why was Derek always so difficult?
A spastic teenager and an emotionally constipated werewolf try to admit their feelings. Sounded like the beginning of a bad joke.
“Derek,” he said softly. “You don’t make me uncomfortable.”
The man eyed him dubiously. Still rolled his eyes.
“Okay, but not in a bad way. Only like, when I’m trying not to get an inappropriate boner during shirtless trainings, or when you give the betas red-eyed looks, or when—”
“Stiles.”
Stiles frowned. “The point is, I’m—”
“A teenager.”
“Eighteen.”
“Who can’t control himself, but I should be able to—”
“Derek, shut up.”
Derek gave him a sour look. Pushing himself up with a grunt, Stiles leaned forward and cupped the man’s chin, studying his face.
“Is this control?”
“That’s not what I meant and you know it.”
“This,” Stiles said. “Is control. And this,”  he leaned closer, touching his lips to the man’s forehead, “is proof that maybe I would like to lose it sometimes, but in every good way possible—”
Derek cut him off by turning his face upward and catching his lips. Stiles grinned and hummed his approval, making Derek growl.
They were cut off by clapping behind them. Erica looked smug, the other betas looked uncomfortable, and Scott just looked a little confused. Derek glared but Erica only grinned wider.
“Too bad all the hunters are dead. I totally would have thanked them.”
“Erica.”
“I mean all that unsolved sexual tension—”
“Erica.”
But Stiles only grinned back at her. Because a werewolf and a human get tied together; sounds like the start to a bad joke. That’s what he thought about three hours ago, at least.
The punchline though? Stiles supposed it was satisfactory in the end.
To say the least.
Dante/Claire, 19?
K, you literally made my day with this request. People wanna read about my little OC? I’m- D’: Claire’s debut to the public yay! I’m still trying to figure out her character a little, so maybe this is a little ramble...y. But! I hope you like it anyways. Thank you so much for requesting her D’: <3
Dante x OC (Claire) 19: A Kiss for Luck
Claire plucked another strawberry from the bowl between them taking a bite of the sweet fruit, leaning back in her seat. It was a warm day, warmer than usual for spring. And she was giddy with excitement for what the rest of the week might bring. Flowers in bloom? Spring rain showers in the morning only for sunshine in the afternoon. And… good company?
Her eyes flitted over to where Dante sat, one leg crossed over his knee, fingers tapping a rhythm into the park bench. The warm sun touched his cheek. In this light, his eyes looked almost sky blue. She felt a flush rise in her cheeks, and she focused her attention back on the strawberry in her hand.
Dante, the famous devil hunter… He had saved her life once, and somehow that had led to this… friendship? She couldn’t stop herself from smiling. No. I hope… that it’s more than just a friendship. Then again… how could it be? She hesitated, the smile dropping away, glancing over at him once more.
Dante… Dante was handsome and charming… he loved to tease. She could always tell by the glint in his eyes, the smirk on his lips. How could someone like him, a guy who could have anyone he wanted, fall for someone like her? Plain, boring Claire, the daughter of an antique shop owner, with her sandy blonde hair (she wished she had been granted her mother’s auburn), and her dark brown eyes.
“You’re thinking too hard,” Dante said, suddenly breaking the silence. Claire jumped, glancing over at him, strawberry still in one hand.
“What do you mean?” She asked. The devil hunter smiled, putting his hands behind his head and leaning back in his seat on the park bench.
“You’re anxious. Whenever you think too hard you bite your lip and twirl your hair around your thumb.” He… knows that? She felt her cheeks go hot again, and she glanced down at her lap.
“It’s nothing,” she murmured, still twirling the ends of her hair around her thumb. Dante frowned, and she knew he didn’t believe her. He reached out, resting his hand on hers, thumb brushing across her knuckles. She had been expecting teasing or a change of subject. This was something he’d never done before. She glanced up to meet his eyes, searching for whatever had enticed him to take her hand.
“You can talk to me about ‘nothing’ whenever you’d like,” he said. There were butterflies in her middle as he let out a huff and stood quickly, “Well. I should head back to the shop.” He ran his fingers through his hair, and Claire rose to her feet.
“Thanks, for sharing the strawberries with me,” she whispered, offering him a smile. Dante blinked, his cheeks tinting pink.
“Heh, yeah. Next time I’ll take you out for Sundaes.”
Take me out? Like a date? He couldn’t mean it like that…. “I’d like that,” she said.
“Vergil’s probably waiting for me at the shop,” Dante groaned. “With another lecture.” That teasing glint lit up his eyes, and he leaned over pointing at his cheek, “So maybe I need a kiss for luck, babe?”
Again with the teasing. He had said silly things like that before, and it had always garnered a blush from her before he quickly turned around with “Just kidding.” But this time, seeing his smirk, the way he pressed the tip of his finger into his cheek—smoosh, the teasing light in his eyes… a burst of courage filled her. She was done with Dante’s teasing. She had wanted to kiss him from the moment she first met him and they had first shared strawberry ice cream in the park.
So, in that moment—before he could take back his request—she leaned forward and pressed a chaste kiss to the corner of his mouth. Dante froze, his cheeks flushing as red as his coat. And then he let out a soft laugh, “Damn, I was not expecting that.”
Claire crossed her arms, “You asked for it!” She huffed. “You ask for it a lot.”
“Yeah, well, you never took advantage of it until now.” He shrugged a little.
Claire flushed, “I’m sorry, maybe I shouldn’t have—” He cupped her face in his hands, brushing his thumbs over her cheeks.
“Ms. Laurent,” he murmured, “Are you saying you regret kissing me?”
Her heart was pounding against her ribs. She reached out to grasp his leather coat with one hand. “No… not for a second.”
Dante grinned, looking down into her eyes a moment more before he said, “Good, ‘cuz neither do I.” He tilted his head and kissed her softly on the lips. Her breath caught in her throat as she pulled him closer, reaching up to cup his cheek. He smiled as he took a step back, drawing away from her touch. “You taste like strawberries.” He whispered.
“So do you,” Claire grinned. He leaned in to kiss her again, gently brushing his thumb along her jaw to lift her chin.
“I’ve wanted to do that…” He trailed off, and shook his head, laughing a little. His dumb smile was contagious, but she knew... he had to go.
“Isn’t Vergil waiting for you?”
“Dammit,” He pulled away, straightening his coat. “I’ll call you.”
“Don’t be too long,” Claire teased. Dante turned to leave but then spun back around and pulled her into one last kiss. He was gone before she could say goodbye, her knees weak, butterflies fluttering in her middle. Dante kissed me. She smiled, glancing up at the passing clouds as she hurried back to the antique shop. Me?! Plain and boring Claire? He… kissed… me?! She had never felt so much happiness, warmth spreading through her like cherry blossoms blooming in Spring. The start of something new and beautiful.
